Overview:

As Enterprise Design Manager on the M&T Digital Experience Design team, you will drive the creation of innovative, user-centered experiences across digital products, ensuring cohesive end-to-end experiences with a focus on Enterprise Services and Business Banking. You will work with design, product, and technology leadership to connect experiences across teams and bring our visions to life.

As a Design Leader, alongside your program’s Product Ownership and Technology Leadership peers, facilitate:

· Collaboration with your Business Product Management stakeholders to evolve our Digital Products so they help achieve their Businesses Objectives and Key Results.

· The creation and maintenance of Product Experience Visions and Roadmaps, that clearly communicate the trajectory of our products, how we expect them to evolve, and the value customers and user should see over time.

· For individual projects and efforts, confidently strategize and plan product-level discovery and concept design exercises that influence the shape features take as they move into detailed feature design and development.

· Conduct Platform and Capability-level system site maps across departments and lines-of-business, that define product-level feasibility requirements.

· The definition and evolution of program operating models, ensuring program leadership is maturing when and where design and research participates in the Product Design and Development process .

As a Design practitioner, define and align broader program areas, working across multiple workstreams to:

· Consistently demonstrate thought-leadership to envision and design a desired end-state that meets business goals and end user needs/expectations, as informed by research.

· Utilize user-centered design methods throughout the product development lifecycle to define deliverables and bring the experience to life.

· Partner with developers to ensure their awareness of successful user experience standards and industry best practices.

· Explore multiple user-centered design concepts through whiteboard sessions, wireframes and usability studies to gather end user feedback to continually improve the customer experience.

· Work with product owners to define functionality and end user requirements to meet desired outcomes.

· Mentor Product Designers and Product Design Leads and build knowledge of design thinking among product teams and senior leadership.

· Build, lead, mentor, and potentially manage a team dedicated across product spaces; define product spaces with cross-functional leads and connect to and help evolve broader product vision.

· Lead cross-functional teams in design workshops, sprints, and related planning sessions using human-centered and design thinking methodologies.

· Strategize and plan user/customer research in partnership with our Experience Research team.

· Identify opportunities to leverage resources and methods across teams to ensure a more cohesive end-to-end experience.

· Develop new practices that drive increased value and appreciation of design, both internally and externally.

· Use storytelling and persuasion to connect strategy and vision with day-to-day practicality.

· Influence design-related decision making at any level of the organization.

· Take an active role in recruiting and hiring new members of the team.

· Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and potentially manage a team.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or similar, and a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 11 years education and/or relevant/product design work experience.

Proven expertise in Product Design/Human-Centered Design

Hands-on experience designing for a variety of digital touchpoints and non-digital channels and supporting the delivery of those designs

Experience managing programs and establishing a future-state vision

Project and people management skills; experience functioning as a project leader as well as an individual contributor

Strong communication and presentation skills; experience creating and presenting artifacts to communicate to a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior management.

Strong ability to mentor and educate others on the value and principles of good experience design

Team player who is comfortable navigating ambiguity within a self-directed culture

Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders

Proficiency in industry best practices for desktop, mobile and web applications

Experience with accessibility standards, cross-platform issues, mobile user interfaces and systems-thinking

Extensive experience with design and prototyping tools, such as Miro and Figma

Experience with design systems

Education and Experience Preferred:

Masters degree in a related field

Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $115,703.73 - $192,839.55 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
