Enterprise Engineering Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Enterprise Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the development efforts and management of all in-house enterprise software solutions, key platform integrations and custom scripting solutions. This role is expected to build cross-departmental relationships, mentor engineering talent, and design creative, resourceful technical solutions both personally and in collaboration with engineering teams.

Working closely under the Director of Digital Engineering, the Enterprise Engineering Manager will participate in all facets of software and system development life-cycle across multiple technology stacks, including development of new solutions, refinement and maintenance on existing systems as well as development on cross-platform integrations and scripts.

This full-time position is based within a commutable distance to Boulder, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Los Angeles, CA, or New York, NY. The role requires flexibility, including extended hours, evenings, and weekends during peak periods, as well as travel to Institute locations, events, and meetings as needed.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

• Leading engineering design for in-house enterprise software, synchronization scripts, and platform integrations.

• Managing, configuring, and extending third-party enterprise tools, including AWS, GitHub, Postman, Airtable, NetSuite SCA/SCIS, SurveyMonkey Apply, and ActiveCampaign.

• Architecting robust integrations using APIs, Webhooks, WebSockets to ensure seamless data synchronization across multiple platforms.

• Designing and maintaining scalable, cost-effective serverless architectures and both relational and NoSQL database schemas.

• Directly contributing to software development efforts or even developing entire software solutions when engineering resources are limited.

• Acting as a bridge between the Digital Engineering team and the Sundance Institute to build strong internal relationships and to help teams improve their technical capabilities and processes.

• Interfacing directly with stakeholders to gather product requirements and translate them into actionable development strategies.

• Owning the full software development lifecycle (SDLC): requirements gathering, solutioning, development management, QA testing coordination, stakeholder review, refinement, and deployment.

• Delivering high-quality, creative problem-solving strategies when working under tight timelines or limited resources.

• Managing, guiding, and supporting junior and mid-level software engineers.

• Providing continuous coaching and professional development opportunities to less experienced technical teammates or non-technical partners across the Sundance Institute.

• Continuing the tradition of fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing engineering culture.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience writing software for frontend, backend or cloud systems in a corporate setting.

• Comfortable working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frameworks (React, Vue/Vite, Angular).

• Programming proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., Javascript, Python, PHP).

• Proficiency working with popular frameworks like ReactJS.

• Proficiency working with runtimes like NodeJS and content management systems like Wordpress.

• Proficiency working with database solutions like MongoDb and MySQL.

• Proficiency working with popular cloud services like AWS ECS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Cloudfront, API Gateway, CloudWatch.

• Experience with backend languages, middleware, and environments (Node.js, Python, Java, Kotlin, C++, C#) is highly desirable.

• 2+ years of experience managing software development lifecycles, including roles acting as a Lead Engineer, Individual Contributor or Manager.

• Proven track record of handling scoping, resource estimation, testing, and deployment alongside QA teams.

• Exceptional ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear business concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience and skills, and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
