The Group:
The Finance Systems & Business Intelligence (FSBI) team partners with Finance, Accounting, and the broader business to deliver the systems, data, and processes that power financial planning, reporting, and decision-making across Morningstar.
The team is responsible for the strategy, governance, and continuous improvement of the Finance technology ecosystem, including enterprise planning applications, financial reporting platforms, analytics, and data solutions. By combining deep finance expertise with technology and process excellence, FSBI helps drive operational efficiency, improve data quality, and support Morningstar's broader finance transformation efforts.
The Opportunity:
Morningstar is seeking a Finance Planning Platforms Lead to serve as the operational owner of our enterprise planning ecosystem, including Oracle PBCS, PCMCS, Narrative Reporting, and Adaptive Planning.
This role partners across Finance, People & Culture, and Technology to drive platform governance, process improvements, and enhancements that support planning, forecasting, workforce planning, and reporting. The ideal candidate combines deep FP&A process knowledge with strong systems and stakeholder management experience, helping translate strategic priorities into effective business solutions.
This position reports to the Director of Finance Business Intelligence and is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities:
Own operations for planning system core tasks supporting budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, compensation planning, allocations, and management reporting processes.
Drive platform formalized governance, release management, testing coordination, deployment readiness, change management, and user adoption activities across the planning technology ecosystem.
Lead discovery, requirements gathering, solution design, and delivery efforts for planning system enhancements, integrations, automation opportunities, and process improvements.
Partner with technical teams and third-party vendors to ensure business requirements are translated into scalable, maintainable, and supportable system solutions.
Oversee production support processes, incident management, root-cause analysis, and service improvement initiatives related to planning platforms.
Establish and maintain system governance standards, operational procedures, knowledge management assets, security models, controls, and supporting documentation.
Coordinate annual planning system readiness activities supporting budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, compensation planning, and organizational change processes.
Develop training, enablement, and self-service capabilities that improve user adoption and effective utilization of planning technologies.
Partner with Finance, People & Culture, Corporate Systems, and other stakeholders to help shape, prioritize, and execute the planning systems roadmap, ensuring investments align with business objectives, operational needs, governance requirements, and platform capabilities.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
8+ years of experience supporting Finance systems, Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platforms, FP&A processes, or related business applications.
Experience supporting Oracle EPM solutions, including Planning, Allocations & Reporting.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, financial reporting, and management reporting processes.
Experience leading cross-functional projects involving Finance and Technology stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience supporting workforce planning, compensation planning, or organizational planning processes.
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable system solutions.
Experience with governance frameworks, SDLC, Agile processes, change management, and Finance transformation initiatives.
Preferred
Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning.
Experience working with managed service providers, offshore teams, or external application support partners.
Experience with Workday, Snowflake, Tableau, or enterprise data platforms.

$121,400.00-186,150.00Inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive
