Job Description

The Financial Aid Systems Analyst delivers reporting with business/operational insights (i.e., business intelligence) and/or provides business system capability that ensures ISS provides exceptional services to Covista. Leverages resources to provide ISS colleagues and stakeholders with data, information and insight presented in a way that enables informed decision making. The Financial Aid Systems Analyst builds, maintains, and improves ISS business systems and/or analytical tools. Collaborates with internal and Covista stakeholders including IT/Product Development and institutions, and delivers on work projects to ensure compliance, efficiency and effective delivery of ISS business systems and analytical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Possesses high level of understanding of business areas and/or functions necessary to successfully undertake technical analysis, design, construction and implementation of system and data analytics which supports success of ISS, Covista and multiple institutions.
  • Supports ISS and multiple institutions, potentially leveraging independent systems and data sources.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to make systems and/or analytics/data tools adaptable for efficient and effective stakeholder interactions, decision making and processing functionality.
  • Creates project / process plans, reports, dashboards, and updates that clearly and intuitively conveys key information to stakeholders for the purpose of supporting quality business decisions.
  • Perform annual and ad hoc modifications into systems, reports and dashboards to maximize effectiveness.
  • Supports compliance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations.
  • Performs testing of solutions against design and business requirements to ensure a quality result which delivers upon targets and expectations.
  • Develops and documents User Acceptance Testing processes and adheres to Process Change Controls required by Internal Audit.
  • Reviews, identifies, and recommends technology and/or data enhancements to resolve issues, support maintenance and improve existing processes and tools.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation to capture and communicate business requirements, process design, and procedures which clearly communicate with key stakeholders (i.e. IT/Product Management, system vendors and all Covista/institutions), and provides for training and business continuity.
  • Need to understand system design impacts on processing, reporting and analytics
  • Is responsive and reports status of all projects and issue resolutions to appropriate stakeholders and ISS Leadership. Provides proactive updates until through completion/resolution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Technology, Business, Analytics, and/or Education concentration required.
  • 2+ years' experience in computer science / technology / analytics field (in higher education environment preferred).
  • 3+ years' experience in business process and systems / analytical tools which will be leveraged in this role.
  • Experience with Banner Financial Aid strongly preferred; experience with similar student financial aid systems considered
  • Experience developing solutions through review of existing processes / reporting / configuration, incorporating business requirements, design, configuration / build, and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience working in multiple Information Technology environments preferred.
  • Technical skills in understanding SQL queries and Unix/Linux commands preferred
  • Analytical report writing skills using Excel and Power BI preferred
  • Proficient with understanding and analyzing business needs, designing solutions based on needs, and articulating business impacts.
  • Detailed and process oriented with demonstrated capabilities in business process design, modeling and requirements analysis; ability to translate into detailed system requirements and/or analytics/reporting specifications.
  • Familiarity with Business Process Management (BPM) methodology (is a plus) and desire experience working with tools/technologies required to facilitate process modeling and documentation.
  • Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills with colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organization, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • This job requires detailed analysis, interpretive thinking, and the ability to develop innovative solutions to meet current business needs and anticipate future changes.  Individual needs to be able to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple projects and concurrent tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.  Must be results driven and committed to meeting set deadlines for established deliverables.  Must be capable of working with business and technical team members at all levels of the organization.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $75,065.24. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
