TITLE: Financial Analyst
DEPARTMENT: SLG (Specialty Loss Group)
REPORTS TO: VP, EGA
STATUS: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
The Financial Analyst will support the newly formed Accounting Group which is part of the Specialty Loss Group (SLG). The role of Financial Analyst includes but is not limited to the evaluation of financial and operational information, organizing data, and assisting with the preparation of reports and financial calculations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and energetic professional who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and collaborating within a team environment.
The position requires strong Excel skills, organization, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively. The analyst will work closely with internal teams to review financial information, summarize results, and support various client and operational needs.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial & Operational Analysis
- Analyze financial statements, accounting records, and operational data to identify trends, variances, and key findings
- Organize and summarize large amounts of data in a clear and concise manner
- Assist in reviewing claim-related financial information and supporting documentation
- Prepare spreadsheets, summaries, and reports using Excel and other internal systems
- Support the preparation of financial projections and loss calculations as needed
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis projects and reporting requests
Reporting & Communication
- Communicate findings verbally and in written form with clarity and professionalism
- Assist in preparing client-facing reports and supporting schedules
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency in all work products
- Collaborate effectively with team members and leadership on assignments and project deadlines
Process & Team Support
- Maintain organized workpapers, documentation, and electronic files
- Demonstrate strong time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture
- Show flexibility and willingness to support evolving business needs and deadlines
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree – Preferred degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in the Insurance Industry
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- Experience working with financial statements, accounting data, or operational reporting preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in a typical office environment, with limited exposure to harsh weather conditions, loud internal or external noise, fumes, or significant temperature changes. Occasional overnight travel in a work capacity may be required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Lift and carry up to 10 lbs.; frequent standing, sitting, walking, and bending; occasional kneeling, reaching, and stooping; handling office equipment; periodic driving may be required; visual acuity to prepare and read detailed hard copy and electronic documents; ability to speak and to hear the spoken word in normal face-to-face and telephonic business communications.
