Job Title : NETEZZA ADMIN/DEVELOPER

Location : Oak Brook, IL, United States

FULLTIME

JOB SUMMARY:

The Netezza developer/admin is a member of the IT Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse team and is responsible for maintaining, developing and supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse platform housed on IBM Pure Data for Analytics

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Design, develop and deliver, and implement database architectures/solutions specifically incorporating the Netezza framework.

Perform architecture design, prototyping of concepts to proof concept, development of standards, design and development of code and module design, development of testing, data solution debugging, design and implementation of a data solution.

Convert design and user specification into database solutions. Ensure quality, functionality, reliability and usability of Netezza database solutions.

Develop database architectural strategies.

Analyze business requirements/needs and design more efficient database solutions, tables, code and procedures to improve system performance.

Work closely with Development, QA, Architects, Business Analysts and other IT staff to implement Netezza Database Administration standards, policies, methods and procedures building consensus with all parties.

Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.

Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Provide guidance in best architectural practices in maximizing the database performance.

Develop and deliver solid, scalable, robust solutions.

Participate within the DBA team to troubleshoot any issues on the Netezza appliance. Perform data analysis as required to scope projects, find bugs, and offer inferences into the product for the users.

Perform Data Migration from SQL Server to Netezza.

Plans, coordinates and implements database change migration.

Design Best Practices and efficient techniques to transfer data from various RDBMS databases to Netezza.

Design logical and physical data models written in Netezza SQL and SQL Server Procedures.

Work both data modeler and DBA to implement physical model on an ongoing bases.

Build and support required Netezza database development and test environments.

Troubleshoot difficult database problems, including slow running queries.

Perform necessary maintenance activities for database infrastructure.

Demonstrate database technical functionality, such as performance, security and reliability.

Perform database Security design and implementation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

3 plus years of working with Netezza

Mastery on Linux/shell script skills

Mastery of structured query language

4 years of data modeling skills, especially for parallel databases.

Proficient at optimizing queries and tables in Netezza.

7 years of experience in data analytics and reporting

7 years of experience with Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse products

5 years ETL experience with SSIS or DataStage

Tableau experience highly desired

Business Objects experience highly desired

Goal driven and highly motivated

Proven analytical and problem solving skills

Strong customer service skills and passion to work through obstacles to produce results

Demonstrable technical thought leadership and influencing skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Able to work in a projects-based, team environment

Proficient in multi-tasking and managing multiple projects, able to meet target completion dates

Strong organization and time management skills

Able to be flexible and adapt to change

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
