JOB TITLE:                      Global Standards Engineer

LOCATION:                    Hybrid on average 1-2 days/wk in Alsip, IL or Lombard, IL USA
COMP RANGE:            $135,000 - $175,000/yr plus bonus in USA

Griffith Foods is hiring a Global Standards Engineer to develop and implement engineering standards and best practices while coaching and enhancing the competency of global engineering teams. In this key technical role, you will ensure compliance with industry regulations, improve product quality, and drives cost and time efficiency in engineering projects to align with the company’s growth objectives.  Although the role does not have direct reports, in this position, you will exercise functional authority over technical standards for roles such as Maintenance Managers, Production Supervisors, Process Improvement Engineers, etc.

As a Global Standards Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing process standards, guidelines, and internal best practices while engaging with regulatory bodies and industry groups to stay informed of external best practices.
  • Work within a global team, harmonizing technical platforms and specifications globally.
  • Ensuring engineering and manufacturing practices comply with regulations and integrate updates to industry standards. 
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs to assess the impact of standardization efforts and conducting audits to verify compliance.
  • Providing expertise on the application of standards in design, development, and production including assisting project teams in interpreting and applying standards.  
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Incorporate environmental objectives into product design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Revising standards based on project defect analysis and feedback to design.
  • Developing and delivering training on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to integrate standards into capital projects.

The Global Standards Engineer position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Possess extensive knowledge of regulatory standards, including Employee Health & Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, and Quality Systems, and can ensure compliance and integration into engineering practices.
  • Enjoy reviewing product designs for compliance with engineering principles, sustainability, and ergonomic standards, and coordinating technical developments, problem-solving, and design changes.
  • Are a leader in innovation management to align new technologies with business goals, fostering continuous improvement and ensuring the company remains competitive.
  • Have background in Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for driving operational efficiency and process improvements. 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience as a project & process engineer, with a focus on developing and implementing engineering standards, compliance, etc.
  • Previous experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 20% globally for audits or major meetings.
  • willingness to work onsite at a Griffith location 1-2 days per week
  • Qualified candidates must currently possess authorization to work in the country in which they are applying.  Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

What will set you apart:

  • 15+ years experience as a project & process engineer, with a focus on engineering standards, compliance, etc.
  • A background in Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
  • PE license or designation
