Job Description

ABOUT THE JOB

The HR Specialist is responsible for optimizing HR operations, driving data accuracy and reporting, and managing employee relations matters to support a high-performing manufacturing workforce. This role serves as the operational backbone of the HR function by improving processes, maintaining compliance, providing actionable workforce analytics, and helping the HR team conduct thorough investigations into employee concerns. The HR Specialist role thrives in a fast-paced production environment and balances day-to-day HR support with proactive initiatives that improve retention, accountability, safety culture, and employee experience.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with EHS and Operations teams to champion a strong safety culture.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and psychological safety.
  • Promote positive associate relations by resolving associate concerns proactively and providing excellent customer service.
  • Serve as the main Timekeeper for Fiberon, partnering closely with the Payroll team to execute a smooth payroll process each week.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve service levels across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and workflow tools.
  • Support onboarding, employee record management, status changes, and offboarding activities.
  • Ensure HR transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain data integrity across HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and talent management systems.
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to turnover, absenteeism, staffing, engagement, training, and workforce demographics.
  • Conduct audits to ensure employee records, organizational structures, and workforce data remain accurate and compliant.
  • Partner with the Leaves & Accommodations team to support FMLA, ADA, and other leave-of-absence cases.
  • Support HR Generalists with investigating employee concerns, policy violations, complaints, and workplace conflicts in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
  • Assist in organizing company functions and community relations activities.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of Human Resources experience
  • Strong administrative, reporting, and data management skills
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, UKG Workforce Management
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or other operational environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification
  • Experience preparing and analyze reports related to HR metrics
  • Experience championing a positive safety culture in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $40,000 USD - $60,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
