Mission of FinTech in Action (FIA):  To work towards Black inclusion in the fintech and financial services industries in the areas of pipeline, hiring, promotion and retention with an emphasis on business-based solutions and an interest in agile, innovative action that requires taking risks to create movement.

The Founding Executive Director is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of the organization’s mission and partnership.  Reporting to the FIA board of directors and accountable to the FIA coalition members, the Executive Director will serve as the face of the organization, representing, communicating, driving and delivering on the FIA mission. 

As the Founding Executive Director of FIA, you person will be key to getting FIA off the ground and setting and executing its strategy in order to develop its place in the industry as an action-oriented, solutions-minded effort towards Black inclusion.  Membership growth will be an important component of the role as well, but the Board and coalition members will assist significantly in these areas.

You’ll be Responsible for:

  • Actively engaging FIA board, coalition members, advisors and other partners to strengthen and maintain commitment to FIA’s values
  • Facilitating large coalition meetings
  • Ensuring ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation and consistent quality of finance and administration, including any possible 501(c)(3) reporting requirements
  • Regularly tracking and reporting on FIA projects in order to accurately communicate the efforts of the organization
  • Identifying and recommending timelines and resources needed to achieve FIA goals
  • Designing a 12-month roadmap with quarterly/annual goals and objectives
  • Developing and executing a budget
  • Developing new relationships with companies in order to expand FIA’s impact and presence

 You’ll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have: 

  • Experience in issues of diversity, particularly Black inclusion within employment
  • Demonstrable experience in setting and achieving strategic goals, designing, managing and scaling projects, as well as managing a budget
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to facilitate large group meetings and to communicate confidently and persuasively
  • A data-driven, adaptable and collaborative mindset, with a bias towards execution with integrity
  • Experience in the fintech or financial services industries preferred but not required
