Integrated Design is looking for a talented and passionate Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our team. Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team of design and engineering professionals to deliver projects. Your primary duty will be to lead the electrical design and engineering portions of all phases of the projects you are assigned to, from planning through post-construction. 

You will be responsible for applying engineering knowledge and professional judgement acquired through experience to plan, size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical systems in accordance with relevant codes, standards and industry best practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include conducting field investigations, liaising with clients, carrying out detailed planning studies, preparing design calculations, authoring technical reports, delivering presentations to stakeholders, leading the development of construction packages (drawings and technical specifications), estimating construction costs, monitoring and supporting construction, participating in commissioning, and contributing to business development activities. You should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and with a reflective mindset and a willingness to challenge both personal and teamwork.

Below are some of the responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Accountable for assisting/leading with overall project electrical design; prioritizing quality while meeting deliverable deadlines, monitoring project scope, and adhering to project budgets.
  • Assist in leading project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participate/Lead client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
  • Support / lead technical sections of assigned proposal pursuits.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, design approach, staffing and schedule for projects of varying sizes and complexities in coordination with the project manager.
  • Evaluate, select, specify, and design applicable electrical engineered systems or products required for the project.
  • Support / lead in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats including 3D design tools.
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines within the project team to facilitate development of deliverables.
  • Contribute to our culture of continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned.
  • Provides guidance, training and mentorship for junior engineers and designers.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. 
  • Professional Engineering license is required. 
  • Eligibility for a Professional Engineering license in any U.S. State.
  • 7+ years of engineering and design experience. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and collaborate with a range of internal and external customers.

Office Location and Schedule

  • Typical office environment, working with computers and drawings for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to hazards including construction, weather, and industrial operations that may be experienced at the infrastructure facilities.
  • Stantec offers flexible work environment. While our preference is for the successful candidate to work from the office at least two days per week, we are open to discussing hybrid work arrangements.
  • Location – Chicago, IL
  • Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10% travel).

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
