Our mission is to transform how people and machines work together to push the boundaries of human productivity. A leader in Industrial AI, Augury helps the world’s manufacturers leverage real-time production insights to drive new levels of efficiency. Combining predictive and prescriptive AI technology with industry expertise, production teams can proactively address alerts, minimize downtime, reduce asset costs, and maximize yield and capacity. Our customers achieve payback in six months or less, enabling global scale. We're looking for team members excited to partner with the world's manufacturers and build the future of production together.

We’re looking for an IoT Embedded Linux Engineer to design, build, and own the software stack powering our next-generation edge devices. You’ll develop resilient Linux-based systems, from bootloader to application, ensure secure and reliable cloud connectivity, and collaborate closely with hardware, manufacturing, and backend teams to deliver production-grade devices at scale.

A Day In Your LifePlatform Ownership
  • Own the full embedded Linux platform: BSP, kernel configuration, device tree, bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot), systemd services, and startup/upgrade flows.
  • Build and maintain production-ready Linux images using Yocto or Buildroot, manage layers/recipes, and maintain reproducible builds across hardware variants.
Application & System Development
  • Develop user-space applications in C++/Go/Rust (or similar), using robust OOP and multi-threading practices.
  • Implement core device logic, leveraging modern frameworks and libraries while optimizing performance and reliability.
Secure & Reliable Updates
  • Implement secure OTA update pipelines (Mender, RAUC, SWUpdate), including A/B partitioning, rollback strategies, signing, and zero-touch fleet upgrades.
  • Harden devices for production security: filesystem permissions, sandboxing (AppArmor/SELinux), secure boot/TPM, key management, CVE tracking, and safe update policies.
Connectivity & Networking
  • Deliver robust connectivity across Ethernet, Wi-Fi, cellular (LTE), and BLE gateway roles.
  • Implement secure protocols: MQTT/HTTPS, TLS, VPN/WireGuard; optimize reconnection, roaming, and edge-to-cloud reliability.
Diagnostics, Debugging & Observability
  • Instrument devices for field diagnostics using journald, metrics/health checks, core dumps, and remote shell access.
  • Trace and debug using tools such as strace, perf, tcpdump, and Wireshark.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with HW, QA, manufacturing, backend, and product teams to define requirements, provisioning flows, and factory test automation.
  • Contribute to production tooling and support manufacturing workflows.
Quality & Release Discipline
  • Drive CI/CD pipelines for cross-compilation, automated testing, static analysis, reproducible builds, and safe rollout practices across fleets.
  • Enforce coding standards, documentation, and testing rigor.
What You Bring
  • 3–5 years of embedded Linux experience shipping devices to production at scale.
  • Strong proficiency with object-oriented design and multi-threaded programming in C/C++/Go/Rust (user space), plus scripting in Bash and Python.
  • Experience with Buildroot or Yocto (Buildroot preferred), including custom layers, recipes, and SDKs.
  • Solid understanding of Linux kernel fundamentals, device trees, drivers/BSP integration, U-Boot bootloaders, and systemd service architecture.
  • Networking expertise: TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, TLS, MQTT/HTTPS, VPN; familiarity with Wi-Fi/cellular modules and AT command stacks is a plus.
  • Proven experience with OTA frameworks, partitioning strategies, and rollback-safe update flows.
  • Strong Git fluency and experience with CI pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
  • BSc in EE, CE, CS, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
  • Deep security experience: secure boot, TPM, disk encryption, SBOM generation, and CVE remediation workflows.
  • Real-time and performance tuning: PREEMPT_RT, low-latency scheduling, and power management techniques.
  • Edge packaging: ARM-based containers (Docker/Podman), OCI runtimes (crun), and rootless/containerized strategies.
  • IoT cloud experience: AWS IoT, Azure IoT, device identity, provisioning, and fleet management tooling.
  • Broader language and protocol experience: Go/Rust for services, protobuf/gRPC.
  • Manufacturing experience: factory provisioning, end-to-end traceability, and end-of-line test systems.

Perks

  • Stock options
  • Paid parental leave
  • Flex PTO
