The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) seeks a Laboratory Research Operations Coordinator 1 to support faculty in the Animal Sciences program. This position assists in the development and instruction of laboratory courses, including intermediate and advanced levels. The role supports all aspects of laboratory delivery, including planning, setup, execution, and cleanup, while ensuring adherence to proper safety procedures and effective learning support for students.
Essential Duties- Support faculty in planning, organizing, and delivering laboratory courses in Animal Sciences
- Prepare laboratory materials and coordinate setup and teardown for laboratory sessions
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of laboratory equipment
- Follow and enforce safe and appropriate laboratory practices and procedures
- Assist with course delivery under instructor supervision, including conducting demonstrations and supporting hands-on activities
- Respond to student questions related to laboratory techniques and course materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and functional laboratory environment
- Complete all required and recommended training to support laboratory operations
- Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to ensure successful lab instruction
- High School diploma or GED
- 0 years of relevant experience required
- Ability to follow laboratory procedures and safety protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in laboratory, animal sciences, or instructional support
- Background in animal anatomy or animal sciences
- Experience with or familiarity with laboratory course content and instructional support
- Demonstrated ability to apply practical knowledge in animal sciences
- Completion of relevant coursework or familiarity with course materials
- Classified Civil Service position
- Subject to a 180-day probationary period
- Part-time hours
- Temporary position (less than one year appointment)
