In this role, you will:
- Identify, source, and engage complex prospects through both cold and warm outreach strategies, leading the team in developing approaches that generate new, profitable Commercial Banking relationships within the $100MM to $2B revenue segment
- Lead complex market planning and strategic growth initiatives by conducting competitive analyses, leveraging business and analytics tools, and applying market insights to identify high-potential opportunities across the region
- Assess and analyze multifaceted prospect needs including financial, strategic, and risk considerations while evaluating Wells Fargo's relationship, credit, and product capabilities to ensure profitable and responsible engagement
- Make decisions in complex situations that require a deep understanding of Commercial Banking policies, procedures, underwriting standards, and regulatory expectations, guiding the team to meet business development targets and execute new initiatives
- Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and middle to senior level managers to resolve prospects' issues while achieving Wells Fargo's business objectives, by helping prospects navigate processes and escalating inquiries when needed; serve as a mentor for less experienced colleagues
- Maintain a deep understanding of the full suite of financial solutions available to Commercial Banking clients including credit, treasury, capital markets, and specialized products as well as the solutions prospects currently use, to design compelling, relationship-centric proposals
- Partner closely with Relationship Managers and product teams throughout the sales cycle, from prospecting through the first transaction, coordinating internal activities and leading the development and presentation of tailored financial solutions
- 5+ years of Commercial Banking Business Development experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Comprehensive knowledge of core commercial banking products and services, including commercial lending, treasury management, and related financial solutions
- Completion of a formal credit training program, demonstrating advanced analytical capability and strong credit judgment
- Established local network and deep understanding of the Grand Rapids market, enabling strong business development and community engagement
- Commercial banking relationship management experience supporting clients with annual revenue of $$100MM to $2B, with proven ability to deliver tailored financial solutions
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business lines to bring the full organization to clients and prospects
- History of generating new client relationships, and building, growing, and retaining long-term partnerships
- Experience identifying, managing, and mitigating risk, with consistent adherence to policy, controls, and regulatory expectations
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence across diverse stakeholders
