Job Summary:
As the Lead Digital Product Owner - CMS on the Rental and Used Team at Caterpillar, you will lead initiatives that streamline rental operations and marketing workflows, improve data consistency across platforms, and enhance how we deliver marketing content to customers. You will work closely with engineering and business partners to scope and execute CMS-related improvement projects, validate platform enhancements, and communicate progress to key stakeholders. You will be responsible for tracking and prioritizing all content-related initiatives within CMS, ensuring that the most critical and time-sensitive items are addressed while maintaining alignment with previously committed deliverables. Your work ensures that our content ecosystem supports a seamless and scalable experience for dealers and customers alike.
What You Will Do:
  • Define and drive the product vision and roadmap for CMS capabilities that support the Cat Rental Store (CRS) website and broader rental digital experiences.
  • Align CMS initiatives with enterprise content governance models and digital transformation goals.
  • Own and prioritize the CMS product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals, dealer needs, and platform requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, UX, content, and dealer teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
  • Configure and maintain content/data in CMS to ensure accurate dealer-product relationships and visibility on the CRS website.
  • Own not only the product strategy and delivery for AEM CMS, but also the upper-funnel marketing content strategy to drive SEO performance and influence user behavior toward the Rental shopping experience, ensuring alignment between content, discoverability, and conversion goals.
  • Resolve data inconsistencies and system issues that impact user experience or content accuracy.
  • Support dealer onboarding and content maintenance through CRS by providing tooling and process
  • Capture feedback from impacted functional teams and work with delivery execution teams to ensure development meets business objectives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for CMS, assisting technical teams with discovery and design, and training marketing partners and dealers.
  • Derive and analyze performance measures for CMS content workflows and publishing efficiency.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications by consulting on scope, layout, and design
  • Partner with development teams to track delivery, complete validation, and ensure each release delivers maximum value
  • Manage the product backlog by prioritizing enhancements based on changing business needs and desired target dates
  • Contribute to change management efforts for dealer digital initiatives, including training, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.

What You Will Have:
  • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Software Problem Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, marketing, communications, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience with CMS platforms e.g Adobe Experience Manager
  • Extensive experience in digital product management including content creation, data integration, marketing content
  • Experience in content lifecycle management, including taxonomy, metadata, and workflow automation
  • Ability to track and prioritize content-related initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences (engineering, business partners, and leadership)
  • Proven ability to work across marketing, engineering, and business teams to align CMS capabilities with strategic goals.
  • Experience working in Agile development while simultaneously managing multiple priorities
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe applications, especially in AEM.
  • Working knowledge of PIM systems and how they integrate with CMS for unified content delivery.
  • Experience in content lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with UX/UI, engineering, and business partners
  • Ability to lead initiatives that streamline marketing operations and improve data consistency across platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Azure DevOps
  • Product Owner certification (CSPO from Scrum Alliance, SAFe PO/PM) or knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Solid understanding of Caterpillar policies, standards, procedures, and business models.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
