Key Responsibilities:  

  • Own the long-term technical vision and ensure architectural decisions align with product strategy, scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and security standards.
  • Influence technical direction across multiple teams by building consensus, resolving conflicting priorities, and guiding decision-making using clear communication and data-driven tradeoffs.
  • Translate business and product strategy into actionable technical roadmaps, ensuring thoughtful prioritization of technical debt, operational health, scalability needs, and future growth.
  • Drive operational excellence by owning SLIs/SLOs, leading incident response and root cause analysis, and implementing durable improvements that enhance system reliability.
  • Provide architectural leadership across teams, overseeing cross-team dependencies, integration points, and technical alignment across the broader Axcess ecosystem.
  • Champion the appropriate use of technology and modern engineering practices to deliver high-quality solutions that delight customers and support sustainable product evolution.
  • Lead an Agile engineering team to deliver and support mission-critical 24/7/365 cloud-based applications, ensuring high performance, availability, and resilience.
  • Guide the design, development, and delivery of maintainable, scalable SaaS applications using the Microsoft technology stack, applying strong engineering rigor to complex system challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to ensure engineering decisions are tied to measurable customer outcomes, KPIs, and business goals.
  • Promote a healthy, high-performing engineering culture by championing psychological safety, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and consistent engineering excellence.
  • Mentor engineers across teams—supporting skill development, architectural thinking, sound engineering judgment, and long-term career growth.
  • Improve developer experience by identifying friction, optimizing tooling and automation, and strengthening CI/CD workflows to increase delivery velocity and quality.
  • Contribute to and help govern engineering standards, frameworks, and reusable components to promote consistency, quality, and reduced duplication across teams.
  • Collaborate with adjacent product and platform teams (e.g., Shared Components, Authentication, API Platform, Tax Systems) to ensure architectural coherence.
  • Design, build, and troubleshoot complex systems and frameworks, providing hands-on technical leadership to unblock teams and ensure high-quality solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices; evaluate third‑party libraries and propose improvements to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
  • Apply Agile and SAFe practices to ensure predictable delivery while meeting performance, localization, and compliance requirements for a global customer base.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional .NET/C# development experience, including web applications, Windows components, APIs, and customer-facing workloads.
  • Experience with modern web technologies such as .NET Core, ASP.NET Web API/MVC, JavaScript, JSON, and RESTful services.
  • 3+ years of experience building customer-facing applications, demonstrating understanding of usability, performance, and reliability needs.
  • Frontend framework experience with React or Angular, along with responsive/adaptive design exposure.
  • Proficiency in core software architecture principles, including object-oriented design, SOLID patterns, and microservices or service-oriented architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including functions, storage, application hosting, and managed services.
  • Experience with modernization efforts, including migrations from App Services to container-based hosting environments.
  • Understanding of highly available or geo-redundant architectures, including failover patterns and reliability considerations.
  • Quality-first engineering mindset, including automated testing, test-first practices, and integration of quality gates.
  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices, ensuring consistent and reliable deployments.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality software within Agile or SAFe methodologies, demonstrating strong execution discipline.
  • Technical leadership and influence, including setting standards, driving alignment across teams, and guiding multi-team engineering initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate architectural strategy, technical tradeoffs, and risk to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in the Tax and Accounting domain (preferred).

Compensation:

$107,500.00 - $188,400.00 USD
This role is eligible for Bonus.

Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position.  Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location. Your recruiter can share more information about the specific offer for the job location during the hiring process.
