We’re looking for a talented Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. In this role, you will work closely with our US Sales teams on commercial contracting across the US and the Americas, and be a true business partner to these teams. While this will be your core remit, this is you will also support our US business with day-to-day matters such as procurement and supplier negotiation, regulatory compliance, with potential to get involved in wider areas around product support, AI, data protection and broader legal advisory.  This is a flexible role within a collaborative team, and the responsibilities set out below are indicative of the role's focus rather than an exhaustive or fixed list. You’ll work with the legal and wider business teams to train colleagues and encourage self-serve behaviours to help us scale effectively. You’ll report to the General Counsel and be part of a team that is customer-centric, solution-orientated and an enabler of the business. We are looking for a self-starter to take ownership of high-value commercial work and help to shape our legal offering to the business, while contributing towards our wider strategy.  Key accountabilities

As US Legal Counsel at Euromonitor you will:

·       Lead legal support on US and Americas deals: Draft, review, negotiate, and provide end-to-end support on a wide range of customer and partner contracts across our global suite of service and product offerings, working closely with Sales and other commercial stakeholders.

·       Identify, assess and advise on mitigating legal, financial and operational risks. Go beyond applying existing rules: working with relevant stakeholders, translate the company's risk appetite and your legal judgement on how risk plays out in practice into clear house positions, owning that guidance as the business's authority on it.

·       In negotiations, advise stakeholders on contractual risk and house positions, shape client negotiation strategy, and drive deals through to signature in a timely, commercially pragmatic way. You will be central to balancing legal risk with commercial goals and enabling creative, effective business outcomes.

·       Support our procurement team on supplier contract negotiations and procurement-related risk assessments.

·       Help to build and improve our global contract templates, and integration of these into the commercial ecosystem.

·       Support in providing legal advice on new product initiatives & feature launches.

·       Work with GC on developing GTM strategy/contract templates for new service offerings and revenue streams.

·       Develop and deliver training for global sales teams; contribute to legal resources, toolkits, and playbooks and standard contractual positions to support consistency and efficiency across the business.

·       Monitor and assess developments in applicable laws and regulations, advising the business on emerging legal risks and required adaptations to agreements, policies, or operational practices.

·       Proactively identify and lead improvement initiatives across the legal function where operational, compliance, efficiency or process gaps have been identified – driving these through to implementation, leveraging existing tools and systems and consistently looking to find a better way.

·       Work with wider legal team to improve contracting governance - e.g. setting legal risk guardrails for commercial deals and escalation processes, collaborating with business stakeholders to develop and roll-out risk frameworks.

·       As capacity allows and based on business needs, potential to expand into other areas of legal support, which may include IP, regulatory compliance and general legal advisory.

Requirements

Essential

·       Law degree and Bar Admission to at least one jurisdiction in the US.

·       3-5+ years of legal experience with a primary focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (in-house or private practice)

·       Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of matters end-to-end, while operating effectively within a broader legal team structure.

·       Strong commercial acumen; able to take a pragmatic approach to legal risk and advise the business accordingly.

·       Excellent interpersonal, communication, drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the business.

·       Openness and enthusiasm for learning about and taking on new areas of law and regulation

·       Impeccable time and priority management.

·       Takes initiative and brings a sense of accountability in the workplace - proactive, resourceful, and solution-oriented.

·       Highly organised and self-motivated with distinctive problem-solving capabilities

·       Strong team player and can-do approach; no job is too big or too small

Desirable

·       Experience advising technology, data, or subscription-based businesses, ideally including exposure to product-related or platform legal work

·       Experience in AI or IP law is advantageous but not essential
