Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Leveraged Finance Director leads Old National's leveraged lending strategy and execution activities, with a focus on sponsor-backed transactions, healthcare finance opportunities, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, refinancings, and other complex debt structures. This role is responsible for business development, portfolio growth, credit quality, and strategic market expansion while serving as a subject matter expert to Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking teams. The Director partners closely with relationship managers, capital markets, credit, and risk leaders to originate, structure, and execute transactions that support client growth and deliver profitable portfolio performance.


Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $127,900. - $258,600. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.


Key Accountabilities


Business Development & Market Leadership


  • Lead the growth and strategic direction of the leveraged finance business.
  • Originate and execute sponsor-backed, leveraged healthcare, and other complex financing transactions.
  • Develop relationships with private equity sponsors, healthcare operators, advisors, and referral sources to drive new business opportunities.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities to expand ONB's leveraged finance capabilities and market presence.
  • Collaborate with Credit, Risk, Capital Markets, Treasury Management, and other business partners to execute client solutions.
  • Present complex opportunities and recommendations to senior management and credit committees.
  • Monitor industry, sponsor, and portfolio trends to proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities.

Transaction Structuring & Portfolio Leadership


  • Provide expertise in structuring and underwriting complex leveraged transactions.
  • Partner with Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking teams to deliver customized financing solutions for clients.
  • Oversee portfolio performance, asset quality, and risk-adjusted returns across leveraged finance relationships.
  • Ensure transactions align with credit policy, regulatory expectations, and portfolio objectives.

Leadership & Talent Development


  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client excellence.
  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert on leveraged finance products, structures, and market developments.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of corporate, commercial, leveraged finance, sponsor finance, investment banking, or structured finance experience.
  • Demonstrated experience originating and structuring leveraged transactions, including sponsor-backed and healthcare finance deals.
  • Strong knowledge of credit underwriting, financial analysis, risk management, and banking regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop business, influence senior stakeholders, and build trusted client and sponsor relationships.
