Manager, Counsel (Financial Services) (Hybrid)
As a Manager, Counsel on the Financial Services Legal Team, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major challenges and significant business initiatives as a member of Capital One's Financial Services ("FS") Division. Capital One's FS Division is a leader and pioneer in the auto finance and technology industries specializing in the delivery of AI, machine learning, and other tech-enabled products and solutions. As an attorney on our team, you will serve in a key role supporting and advising the business in our pursuit to dream, disrupt, and deliver solutions for consumers, dealers, and partners.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing strategic legal advice on a variety of complex issues and topics spanning the range of business initiatives, including questions that directly impact the customer experience
  • Translating laws, regulations, and legal requirements into clear and focused guardrails
  • Building relationships and collaborating with business stakeholders in wide-ranging roles
  • Understanding business needs and providing appropriate solutions to reach the desired goals
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the Legal Department and business to provide advice in a consistent, well-reasoned manner

Basic Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate or as in-house counsel

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate or as in-house counsel
  • Experience advising companies on matters of regulatory compliance, including with UDAAP, the FCRA, GLBA, ECOA, and TILA
  • Experience advising financial-services companies

This role is hybrid meaning associates spend 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting.
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $149,800 - $171,000 for Manager, Counsel
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
