Position: Manager, Financial Due Diligence

Company: Blue Ops

Location: Chicago, IL, Minneapolis, MN and Charlotte, NC

ABOUT

Blue Ops Partners is a premier M&A advisory firm serving as the most trusted partner to private equity firms, investment banks, and portfolio companies throughout the M&A lifecycle. Since 2010, we have combined deep operational expertise with cutting-edge technology and analytics to deliver superior outcomes for our clients.

Specializing in strategic FP&A advisory, due diligence, operational finance, and business analytics, we partner with small to mid-sized businesses to drive financial discipline, enhance reporting accuracy, and build scalable processes that create lasting value.

WHO WORKS AT BLUE OPS:

At Blue Ops, we're building a team of operators and forward-thinking professionals who use deep expertise, sharp judgment, and an active embrace of AI and new technologies to drive outsized impact for our clients. We value leaders who have already built things: client relationships, teams, track records and who now want a platform where their expertise compounds into something larger. This is a place for experienced professionals who want real ownership, strong peers to sharpen their thinking against, and a visible path into firm leadership.

THE ROLE

As a Financial Due Diligence Manager, you’ll spearhead and lead engagements: owning workstreams, guiding junior team members, and serving as a trusted point of contact for clients navigating some of the most important financial decisions of their careers. At a firm our size, bureaucracy is limited, and there’s no limit to how much you can contribute.

You’ll drive the financial analysis at the heart of buy-side and sell-side transactions by overseeing Quality of Earnings and other key analyses, and synthesizing findings into clear, compelling reports. You’ll also be a critical voice in client conversations, helping buyers, sellers, and investors understand not just what the numbers say, but what they mean for the deal.

Beyond the deal work, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your skillset across other consulting verticals within Blue Ops, including advanced data modeling, portfolio company value creation, and forecasting and budgeting projects. You’ll also play a meaningful role in business development by building relationships, contributing to proposals, and helping grow a practice that’s still defining what it can become.  If you’re energized by the idea of leaving your mark on a firm, not just a workstream, this is that opportunity.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·        Deep command of accounting and financial statement analysis, with the ability to lead complex QofE workstreams and independently identify issues that others might miss

·        Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping teams on track and clients informed without losing momentum

·        Strong executive presence and communication skills to lead client meetings, present findings to C-suite executives, and translate complex financial concepts for any audience

·        Genuinely excited about data and curious about how AI and emerging tools can raise the bar on client service and efficiency

·        Intellectually curious and committed to lifelong learning, including staying close to deal trends, investor strategies, and the broader market forces shaping the transactions you work on

·        High standards for your own work and the work of your team, with serious attention to detail and a drive to understand the “why” behind every finding

·        A natural leader who develops junior talent, builds a culture of accountability and growth

·        An ownership mentality that extends beyond individual deals to the health and growth of the practice itself, including client relationships, team development, and firm building

·        Ability to travel on an as-needed basis (limited travel anticipated)

WHAT YOUR RESUME SHOWS

·        5-10 years of progressive experience in audit, financial due diligence or similar roles at a top accounting / consulting firm, with meaningful experience in an FDD role

·        A demonstrated track record of leading engagements, including managing junior staff, owning client relationships, and delivering high-quality work products under deadlines

·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

·        Progress toward/completion of CPA license. CFA designation preferred but not required

·        Advanced Excel proficiency, including large datasets, pivot tables, and the ability to build clean, auditable workpapers. Experience with data modeling and transformation (e.g., Microsoft Power Pivot, Alteryx) strongly preferred

·        Proficiency in the broader Microsoft Office suite, including the ability to build polished, client-ready PowerPoint deliverables

·        Prior involvement in business development, including proposal writing, relationship building or client pitches, is a strong plus

THE PACKAGE

The salary range for this position is: $108,675-$153,725 in Minneapolis and $113,513-$170,940 in Chicago. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws. All hired individuals are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Blue Ops offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes
