We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager, State Product Management to partner with the Field Operations Team to establish, monitor, and influence all aspects of profitability and growth for assigned states. This role involves managing and enhancing existing products through analysis, research, and strategic recommendations related to product design, pricing, underwriting, agency management, distribution, claims, and other processes.
What does a MANAGER, STATE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT do?- Own P&L performance for 4–9 states, directly managing 2–3 states and overseeing additional states through direct reports.
- Develop pricing strategies based on actuarial indications, competitive analysis, and regulatory requirements.
- Execute rate changes and ensure timely filings, coordinating with Sales, Actuarial, Marketing, IT, and Testing teams.
- Identify actions for unprofitable segments and leverage underwriting and agency strategies.
- Present state performance and strategies to senior leadership and track key financial metrics.
- Achieve premium and policy count targets for assigned states.
- Partner with Sales to identify growth opportunities and optimize product positioning.
- Conduct competitive analysis and research market trends to inform product enhancements and new state launches.
- File and gain approval for regulatory changes; respond promptly to objections.
- Build relationships with state Departments of Insurance and maintain awareness of regulatory changes.
- Onboard, coach, and mentor Product Analysts and Managers.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability and innovation.
- Manage staffing needs, recruitment, and performance evaluations.
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Economics, Actuarial, Math, Statistics, Insurance, or a similar field required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Product or Actuarial in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
- Minimum of 4 years of state management experience within Property and Casualty; state management for personal auto insurance preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing direct reports.
- Experience initiating, developing, and executing complex pricing and product changes, including submitting filings and responding to DOI objections.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance and actuarial concepts, business processes, pricing plans, underwriting rules, and key financial metrics
- Proficiency with SQL, SAS, or Python required.
- Experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau is a plus
- Power BI skills a plus (ability to build reports and analyze data).
- Proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis).

- Ability to balance multiple tasks and occasional travel (5%).
