Job Summary:

The Managing Director is accountable for the strategic oversight and proactive management of a portfolio of commercial real estate receivables (“Advances”) managed by Trimont. This role leads to all aspects of portfolio performance, including loan monitoring, risk management, credit assessment, valuation, compliance, and data integrity. As the designated credit officer for the portfolio, the Managing Director ensures prudent credit decisions. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams including servicing, accounting, capital markets, and investment advisory, to drive asset performance in line with established objectives. A deep understanding of CMBS structures is essential.  The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of Advances and underlying collateral.
  • Lead comprehensive credit assessments and recoverability analyses for all assets, ensuring alignment with internally established guidelines as set by the Investment Committee.
  • Oversee and manage the approval process for all Advances, ensuring adherence to internal policies and guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and periodically review the approval matrix for the business, establishing appropriate approval authorities and escalation protocols for Advances.
  • Partner with loan servicing and capital markets teams to process data, track balances, and address operational matters.
  • Participate on the advancing committee, leading the review and approval of all Advances, and fundings in accordance with credit policy and guidelines as established by the Investment Committee.
  • Collaborate with the investment advisory team to ensure alignment with the overall portfolio strategy and performance targets.
  • Continuously analyze underlying asset values and market conditions to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop team members to support portfolio objectives and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CRE, CCIM) are preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial real estate, loan servicing, asset management, or related fields.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial real estate lending, loan documentation, CMBS structures, and servicing practices.
  • Advanced analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • High proficiency in financial modeling, asset valuation, and portfolio analytics.
