Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Quality Engineer to join our Total Quality team supporting the MQ-25 program located in Mascoutah, IL!

This position will be primarily located in Mascoutah, IL and will require some on-site support in Berkeley, MO.

This position reports to MQ-25 Quality leadership and is responsible for integration, coordination, and problem resolution within the production system. The position will focus on process execution and administration; coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to issue, track, receive, document and report official closure of Notice of Escapes and containment activity through the life cycle until issue is resolved. Will utilize various methods to evaluate and initiate actions to identify and control sources detrimental to quality, cost, and schedule targets. Will coordinate root cause, corrective and preventive action investigations/ decisions/ validations, along with area improvement strategy and planning. Responsible and accountable for delivering effective methods and initiating improvements that will drive and improve overall quality performance reducing quality escapes to the field. Will collaborate with various functions to assure compliance and continuous improvement; this includes integration of Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Material & Process Engineering, Safety, and Manufacturing/Operations partners.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities. Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved. Works under general direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • More than 3 years of experience performing quantitative or statistical analysis, and/or data collection, preparation and interpretation
  • More than 1 year of experience in root cause corrective analysis
  • More than 3 years of experience working in Quality

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with AS9100 or other similar Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • More than 1 year of experience in an aerospace, fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Experience interfacing and presenting to data findings to leadership
  • Experience working closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment
