Development Technology Director
McDonald's operates 37,000+ restaurants across 120+
countries. Technology deployment into our vast system is complex and
lengthy. As McDonald’s continues to
innovate and disrupt the restaurant industry, we are looking to add a technical
director to define and drive a transformed deployment and support approach as
we deploy new solutions into the restaurants, in order to speed up and
modernize our methods and toolsets. Easy
deployment to such a significant ecosystem will only come through advanced
engineering and technical solutions.
This position will be based out of our Innovation Center in
Romeoville, with some time spent at our headquarters in Chicago.
What you need:
Computer Science / Engineering degree
10+ years of technically focused experience
A passion for innovation
A passion for new technologies and the drive to find ways to implement better tools and processes
Retail technology experience
Experience in embedded systems and platforms, including Edge and Cloud computing
Influence/communications/change management

What you’ll be doing:
Leading development activities for multiple critical innovation work streams, leveraging multiple development partners
Establishing and driving a function to develop and test innovation
Leading a team of managers, analysts, and consultants – provide strategic vision for the department while also balancing near term deliverables
Leading assessments and vendor selection in order to develop and deploy cutting edge technical solutions, spanning beyond traditional technology into areas such as kitchen equipment automation
Leading, planning, and managing at both strategic and operational levels while balancing short-term and long-term needs of the business and project
Driving execution of day-to-day work to develop solutions (idea generation, solution development, business case analysis)
Developing and evaluating business cases and the ability to effectively advocate for necessary investments
Delivering concise, compelling, data driven business recommendations as you update the leadership team and decision-makers on project status and progress
Developing documentation and processes in support of agile development, with a focus on innovation
Leading on-going solution life-cycle evaluation around ideation, launch, refresh and support
Partner with many different functions internally to create an innovation pipeline
Partner with our many suppliers to create a process that facilitates innovation
