The Director, Quality System and Compliance will build out and implement the 1GTI GXP Quality Management System and implement a global and flexible electronic Quality system for compliant processes. The successful candidate will provide leadership to establish and maintain quality levels that meet and exceed customer expectations. The scope of this leadership role includes systems and compliance, metrics, monitoring, complaints, and continuous improvement. This individual will lead other Quality Assurance professionals, and/or consultants/contractors.
Responsibilities
- Define, establish and implement 1GTI GXP Quality Management System to ensure compliance with local, state and federal food safety and cannabis regulations and industry best practices
- Oversee all internal SOPs and ensure that they are implemented and maintained for compliance with all Federal and State regulatory requirements
- Ensure harmonization of 1GTI Quality system
- Monitor site’s compliance to GTI corporate Quality System
- Monitor site’s compliance activities to State regulations
- Implement a global and flexible electronic Quality system for compliant processes
- Responsible for all aspects of corporate Quality System including Documentation Control, Change Management, Training, Internal Audit, Complaints, and Management Review
- Define and monitor Quality metrics to continuously improve Quality processes and support risk and mitigation-based approaches
- Present the Quality metrics and processes’ performance for management review and product reviews, as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues in all research, development and commercial areas to ensure streamlined, compliant and phase appropriate quality system for new products
- Oversee complaint investigation, field alert reporting and recall requirements for the company; coordinate directly with regulatory bodies, contractors and vendors as needed to ensure compliant handling of products under investigation
- Provide support to site Quality Manager in the management of employee quality training programs, including the annual GMP, Personnel Hygiene, and Food Safety training programs
- Evaluate and implement continuous improvement processes that improve global Quality systems and operational efficiency
- Keep abreast of emerging issues/news in food industry and regulatory agencies on food safety and quality requirements that impact manufacturing facilities and provide potential solutions to the leadership team
- Manage the professional development of direct reports through deployment of a proactive talent management strategy, active coaching and mentoring
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in business or science discipline, i.e. Quality, Chemistry, Engineering, Operations Management, Food Science or related field
- 10+ years in medical device, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing, with responsibility for a broad spectrum of Quality System elements
- 5+ years guiding and leading a quality organization
- Thorough, practical, and functional knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations in food safety regulations including current regulations and directives and HACCP/SSOP/HARPC programs or GXP
- Preferred Certification: HACCP, PCQI, ASQ CQM, PMP, Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt, ISO Lead Auditor
- Successful track record of selecting, implementing, and optimizing an integrated electronic quality management system software including modules for Document Control, Change Management, Training, Quality Events, and other Quality System functions
- Excellent Project & Change Management
- Successful track record with State, Federal or ISO inspections and audits
- Strong analytical abilities, technical writing ability and comprehensive understanding of quality toolbox (SPC, 8D root cause analysis, control and inspection standards, basic statistics, etc.)
- Excellent leadership skills including an effective written and oral communicator, including experience preparing and making presentations to executive level management and interacting effectively with internal and external organizations, collaborators, and customers
- Track record of delivering in a start-up, fast-paced, innovative, dynamic environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient
- Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve, as well manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently and concisely explain complex issues supported with data. Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking
- Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of GTI
- Cross-functional team leadership skills, as well as coaching and mentoring skills
- Demonstrated competence to work and communicate effectively with all levels in the organization
- Understanding of the Medical Marijuana laws, rules and regulations is preferred and the passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws

- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
