The Electric Power Division has an exciting opportunity for a North American Gas Segment Manager. This position will be based in North America, preferably in the Northeast United States. As a North American Gas Segment Manager at Caterpillar, you will lead a team of electric power experts responsible for sales into prime power gas applications. This position is responsible to develop and execute a strategy that reflects the prime power business and will provide the collaboration and stakeholder oversight to support the execution of the strategy.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Develop and employ the overall vision and strategy for the assigned gas prime power gas segment including CHP and other continuous duty applications.
* Responsible to achieve goals in gas generator set and parts business volume, Percent of Industry Sales (PINs), Percent of Parts Sales (POPS), profitability and customer satisfaction
* Establish and maintain effective Caterpillar internal partner relationships, dealer relationships, Industry Organization memberships and customer relationships
* Establish high-level relationships with business decision makers and identify business needs and problems
* Develop, prioritize and implement strategies to address customer needs as well as securing commitment of Caterpillar and Dealer resources to assure continued customer satisfaction and increased sales
* Identifies new opportunities for increased value proposition with the ultimate goal to achieve Caterpillar leadership within the Segments prime power gas segment
* Lead a team of 5-8 electric power experts, immersing themselves in the gas prime power segment, assimilating market requirements, market trends, customer data and to formulate, document and implement creative short and long-term plans required to support the integrated electric power strategy and serve as the champion and work cross functionally within various CAT and dealer teams
* Create detailed business cases analyses and financial models to support key strategic investment decisions
* Act as a consultant to various departments within Caterpillar regarding the direction and strategies that key electric power industry leaders will be adopting in the future
* Consult with dealers, Developers, EPCs, etc. on the subject of sales and service support of product into the gas prime power segment
* Demonstrate leadership skills to develop and retain major customer and dealer relationships
* Travel extensively to develop a deep understanding of the end-user’s business and their unmet needs and establish customer-focused operational roadmap for products, distribution and marketing processes, etc.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* College Degree is required, preferably in Engineering or equivalent technical field
* 10+ years of experience in the Electric Power market and is recognized as an industry expert in the prime power gas segment
* Must have existing relationships with key players in the industry and expected to be maintained and further developed
* Previous experience developing gas prime power projects including CHP and continuous duty power generation. This experience should include collaborating with partners including developers, equipment suppliers and EPC's to execute the project to meet the customer's requirements
Top Candidates will also have:
* Experience working with Caterpillar dealers is preferred
* Professional Business Acumen, strong personal presence, engaging relationship skills, strong leadership experience, account management experience, product/technical knowledge and commercial services sales, customer focus, product and business solution sales, finance
* Work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences
* Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business unit
* Position works independently with considerable freedom of action and is broadly subject to functional policies and ultimate goals
* Manages the compliance of assignments and keeps up to date with new industry trends, changing technology and regulations affecting the competitive environment
