The Parish and School Content Lead will create spiritual content and faith formation programs for pastors, educators, and church leaders, collaborating across teams to integrate content into the Hallow experience.
Who we are
Hallow is on a mission to help people pray. We’re the No. 1 prayer app in the world, with more than 1 billion prayers prayed across 150+ countries. We're building a product that is authentically Christian and Catholic, while at the same time a resource for anyone looking to grow deeper in a relationship with God. We believe that people are hungry for peace, and that there is no surer way to find it than by learning to sit in silence with Christ: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28).
Our goal is to build something truly great. Something that combines the beauty of the Church's spirituality with world-class product and content execution. And we need a world-class team to make it happen.
We launched the app in December 2018 and have been blown away with the incredible growth & traction. Hallow has been downloaded more than 30 million times with over 250,000 5-star reviews. We're blessed to be backed by some of the best mission-driven investors in the world and are excited to build out the team to help a lot more folks grow closer to God.
We are a startup. We move quickly. We are small but we take big swings. Each person is responsible for making an impact. It is hard—but deeply meaningful—work. We'd be honored & humbled if you'd consider joining us.
TL;DR: We're looking for a Parish and School Content Lead to create world-class spiritual content and faith formation programs specifically for pastors, church leaders, and educators — serving as the bridge between Hallow's platform and the lived rhythms of parish and school life.
- Set the Roadmap: Work with content team leadership to establish the parish and school content release calendar — identifying release rhythms, prioritizing what gets built and when, and laying the foundation for a content category that will grow in depth and reach over time.
- Write for Parish & School Leaders: Craft scripts and guided prayer experiences designed for pastors, educators, and faith formation leaders to share in small group and community settings — content that is clear, warm, and customized to fit the individual needs of our parish and school partners.
- Produce Long-Form Faith Formation Content: Develop transformative series for sacramental preparation, discipleship, and other evangelization programs that support the unique experience of coming to faith in a Catholic parish or school.
- Build Supplemental Resources: Work closely with our Parish and Schools teams to produce supplemental materials for mainline content that respond directly to the needs and desires of our partners on the ground.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with the broader Content, Product, and Marketing teams to ensure parish and school content is integrated thoughtfully into the Hallow experience and communicated effectively to our partners.
- Mission: This work is incredibly humbling. Every day we get amazing stories and get the pleasure of working on something that impacts lives. One of my favorite user quotes: “I hate quoting an old, overused cliche, but I’ve been very lost. And I think for the first time in a while I may be found.”
- Partnership: You'll have a front-row seat to how Hallow serves the Church — working alongside pastors, principals, and educators who are hungry for exactly what you're building.
- Ownership: From day 1, you’ll be a part of the startup journey. You'll own an entirely new content category within Hallow, with significant latitude to shape what parish and school content looks and feels like at scale.
- Flexibility: HQ will be in Chicago with the full team and would love to have everyone there. That being said, we're super flexible with location / hours; we don't care when or where you work, just that it gets done.
- Comp: We will pay competitive market rates in terms of equity, cash, & benefits.
What We're Looking For
- Passion: First & foremost, we’re looking for someone excited about our mission to help parishes and schools encounter God through prayer. It makes it a lot more fun :)
- Institutional Knowledge & Cultural Fluency: You have a working knowledge of Catholic liturgy, sacramental life, the liturgical year, and how parishes and schools operate. You have a finger on the pulse of what people are watching, reading, and talking about, bringing that cultural awareness to content that connects faith to everyday life. Familiarity with sacramental preparation and religious education is required.
- Exceptional Writing Craft: You write with clarity, beauty, and depth. You tell stories well. You understand pacing, voice, and how to move a reader, and you've done it professionally.
- Organized & Self-Directed: You can juggle multiple projects, work collaboratively with partners and internal teams, hit deadlines, and build your own workflows. Experience managing content for institutional clients or ministry partners is preferred.
- Experience: A degree in theology, religious education, English, or a related field, plus at least 3-5 years of professional writing experience, ideally within a Catholic parish, school, or ministry context.
- Willing to Travel: While the role is remote-first, candidates must be willing to travel for content production at least 1-2 times per quarter and for in-person team meetings at least twice a year.
$75,000-$110,000 USD per year
The above range only includes cash compensation. Each full-time employee in the US also receives equity compensation, alongside a top-tier benefits package (e.g., unlimited PTO, insurance, remote-flexible work, fully paid parental leave, 401(k) match, and stipends for spiritual development, health & wellness, home-office, and learning).
The above range for cash compensation refers to base salary. All full-time employees are also eligible to be considered for a discretionary bonus at the end of each fiscal year. These ranges are just initial estimates. They may vary depending on market or location and may be adjusted depending on the person we end up hiring for this role, their experience, and market dynamics.
We're a small team and we care deeply about each new hire, so sometimes it can take us a while to get through the hiring process for these roles. Apologies in advance for any delays. We'll do our best to keep you updated throughout the process, and we really appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through everything.
We are honored that you'd consider joining the team and look forward to connecting with you.
Best,
Alex at Hallow
