About Lantern

The trusted data platform for private markets.

Lantern is built by operators who have lived the exact problem we've set out to fix. Our leadership team has founded, scaled, and exited private markets technology and large-scale tech companies through acquisitions, IPOs, and global expansions. We know what GPs, LPs, and administrators actually need because we've sat on their side of the table.

Private markets data today is fragmented, manual, and slow. Every quarter the same story plays out: numbers arrive from disparate places, sources do not agree, and someone spends their week rebuilding trust from scratch in Excel, hoping nothing slipped through the cracks. It's exhausting. It's avoidable. And it's exactly what Lantern was built to end.

Lantern is not another dashboard. We're building the infrastructure that makes private markets data trustworthy, and we're just getting started.

The Role

We're looking for a Platform Engineer to help build, operate, and evolve the infrastructure and engineering platform behind Lantern.

You'll work across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, networking, databases, security, and developer tooling, helping ensure our platform is reliable, secure, scalable, and straightforward for engineers to work with.

Our platform runs primarily on Google Cloud Platform, with applications deployed using services including Cloud Run and Cloud SQL. We manage our infrastructure as code and use modern CI/CD practices to take changes from GitHub through to production.

This is a hands-on role with significant scope to shape how our platform develops. You'll solve infrastructure problems, automate repetitive work, improve reliability and developer experience, and work directly with product engineers to make it easier and safer to ship software.

This role requires participation in an on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support for production incidents when required.

What You'll Own

  • Cloud infrastructure. Build, operate, and improve our GCP infrastructure across compute, networking, databases, storage, identity, and supporting services.
  • Infrastructure as code. Develop and maintain our infrastructure through Terraform, keeping environments reproducible and well managed.
  • CI/CD and developer experience. Improve how engineers test, deploy, and operate software, reducing friction while maintaining appropriate safeguards.
  • Reliability and observability. Improve the resilience, performance, monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting of our production systems.
  • Databases and data infrastructure. Support our production databases and data services, including connectivity, performance, availability, and backups.
  • Security and access. Work with engineering and security on IAM, secrets, network security, environment separation, and secure infrastructure practices.
  • Automation and platform standards. Replace manual or fragile processes with reliable automation and establish sensible patterns for how services are deployed and operated.
  • Incident response. Help investigate and resolve production incidents and turn what we learn into lasting improvements.

About You

  • Demonstrable experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or a similar infrastructure-focused role, including operating production systems.
  • Hands-on experience operating production workloads in GCP, AWS, or Azure, with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, IAM, databases, and security.
  • Strong GCP experience is highly desirable, particularly with services such as Cloud Build, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, VPC networking, IAM, Secret Manager, and Cloud Monitoring.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform, and building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
  • Comfortable with containers, relational databases, and modern application deployment patterns.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting production systems using logs, metrics, traces, and other observability tooling.
  • Able to write scripts or small tools to automate operational tasks using Python, Go, Bash, or similar.
  • Security-minded, with a good understanding of IAM, secrets management, least privilege, networking, and production access controls.
  • Experience supporting agentic software development would be highly beneficial, including the infrastructure, tooling, automation, and guardrails needed for AI agents to work effectively within engineering workflows.
  • Pragmatic and comfortable taking ownership: able to understand a problem, design and implement a solution, and make sure it continues to work.

What You'll Get

  • Real ownership. Help shape the infrastructure and platform that Lantern's products and engineering teams are built on.
  • Interesting engineering problems. Work across cloud infrastructure, reliability, networking, databases, security, observability, and developer experience.
  • A modern platform. Work primarily with GCP, infrastructure as code, GitHub-based delivery, and modern cloud-native architectures.
  • Visible impact. Platform is a small team at the centre of Lantern's engineering organisation, so the improvements you make will directly affect how the wider engineering team works.
  • A competitive package. Health and disability benefits, plus 20 days of leave excluding public holidays.

Lantern is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All aspects of employment, including decisions to hire, promote, discipline, or discharge, are based on merit, competence, performance, and business needs. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, marital status, age, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic information, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status, or any other status protected under federal, state, or local law.
