Yaskawa America, Inc. seeks Product/Manufacturing/Quality Engineer B. Duties: Troubleshoot and perform root cause analyses of failures and create corrective action plans for systemic and daily quality issues and component failures; Inspect, segregate, and modify components or finished goods inventory; Analyze products and advise on the authorization or restriction on the use of suspect products for production or sale to customers; Evaluate the impact of suspended product decisions on production stoppages and customer requirements; Plan and ensure the implementation of new products from the design phase to volume production; Create and ensure project launch schedules; Coordinate regular launch status meetings; Prepare and control all product related master data; Create manufacturing work instructions and implement line balancing; Advise the design team regarding manufacturability; Train employees; Coordinate the construction of engineering prototypes; Respond to requests for customer specified product; Evaluate product design to develop the necessary production procedures and processes; Establish customer promise dates; Maintain processes to assure product quality; Analyze quality data and trends; Create product quality performance reports for customers and for internal use; Interface with customers to determine root causes of product failures; Communicate corrective actions to customers; Design and implement factory equipment; Create factory layouts and incorporate new equipment; Design and approve packing methods for shipment of products according to International Safe Transit Association guidelines; Investigate and analyze product and process changes; Create and oversee engineering change order implementation within the Supply Chain and Production groups; Participate in ISO and customer audits; Assist with external audits that relate to certification agencies such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Conformite Europeenne (CE), and Technischer Uberwachungsverein (TUV); Support communication with auditing agencies and customers to resolve open issues; Plan and lead supplier audit teams and evaluate or approve new suppliers for use; Conduct regular supplier quality meetings to evaluate overall supplier quality; Prepare and control departmental budgets for production related capital projects and factory expense; Manage capital implementation projects according to budget; Identify and implement opportunities for continual improvement, including cost reduction, process improvements, design changes, component substitutions, supplier changes, and labor savings; Provide cost analysis in the form of return on investment, breakeven analysis, and annual total; Review supplier requests for design changes to evaluate their impact on product design and authorize appropriately; and Participate in company-sponsored activities, including the employee suggestion program, quality training, and the safety committee.
Job Site: 1067 Johnson Drive, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. Salary: $91,146-$97,000/year. Requires Bachelor's or foreign degree equivalent in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Requires three years of experience in the job offered or in engineering manufacturing. Requires experience performing root cause analysis of manufacturing issues and drafting corrective action reports; preparing documents for production planning and scheduling and ATP; preparing paperwork to document material needs; product data management; reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics; standardizing costing with suppliers; and conforming to ISTA product packaging standards.
