Presales Solution Engineer - Edge AI

Description -

Role Summary

The Presales Solution Engineer – Edge AI is a customer-facing technical leader responsible for transforming Edge AI opportunities into measurable business outcomes and production-ready solutions.

This role works across the complete customer journey—from discovery and solution architecture through Proof of Concept (POC), validation, deployment, and production scale. The Solution Engineer serves as the technical bridge between customer requirements, HP's Edge AI capabilities, Advanced Compute platforms, partners, and delivery organizations.

Success is measured not simply by successful demonstrations or POCs, but by the ability to move customers from concept to production and deliver measurable business value.

Customer Discovery & Technical Strategy

Partner with customers, account teams, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to understand business challenges, technical requirements, workloads, infrastructure, data environments, and desired outcomes.

Translate customer requirements into actionable Edge AI and Advanced Compute architectures and implementation strategies.

Identify opportunities where AI inference, computer vision, intelligent edge workloads, advanced compute, and related technologies can improve customer operations or create new business capabilities.

Connect near-term opportunities with the customer's broader technology and AI strategy.

Solution Architecture & Design

Design end-to-end Edge AI solutions incorporating the appropriate combination of:

·   Edge computing platforms and advanced compute

·   CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, and AI accelerators

·   AI inference and model deployment

·   Computer vision and intelligent edge workloads

·   Data ingestion and processing

·   Containers and orchestration

·   Edge management and observability

·   Networking, security, and device management

·   Cloud and hybrid-cloud integration

·   ISV and ecosystem technologies

Develop solution architectures that account for performance, scalability, manageability, security, reliability, cost, and operational requirements.

Proof of Concept Leadership

Own the technical execution of customer POCs, pilots, and solution validations.

Define clear POC objectives, technical success criteria, business outcomes, architecture, timelines, responsibilities, and exit criteria before execution begins.

Configure, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and optimize Edge AI solutions in customer and lab environments.

Ensure POCs demonstrate more than technical feasibility by connecting technical results to measurable customer outcomes.

POC-to-Production Ownership

Serve as the technical owner for moving successful POCs into production deployments.

Develop a clear productionization plan covering architecture, infrastructure, security, integration, operational readiness, support, monitoring, deployment, and scaling requirements.

Identify technical and organizational barriers that could prevent a successful POC from reaching production and proactively develop mitigation plans.

Partner with HP Services, engineering, partners, ISVs, Enterprise Architecture, and customer teams to create a smooth transition from presales validation into implementation.

Maintain technical continuity throughout the lifecycle: Discover → Architect → Validate → POC → Production → Scale

Edge AI Technical Leadership

Serve as a subject matter expert within HP's Edge AI and Advanced Compute Practice.

Maintain deep knowledge of emerging Edge AI technologies, architectures, AI models, inference frameworks, accelerators, compute platforms, and industry use cases.

Build reusable architectures, technical patterns, reference designs, demos, POC frameworks, and deployment methodologies that accelerate future customer engagements.

Capture lessons learned from customer engagements and feed those insights back into HP product, engineering, services, and practice development teams.

Sales & Business Development Support

Partner with sales and technical account teams to identify, qualify, and advance Edge AI opportunities.

Provide technical leadership during customer workshops, architecture sessions, executive briefings, demonstrations, RFP responses, and solution presentations.

Develop solution bills of materials, architecture documentation, technical proposals, deployment assumptions, and supporting technical content.

Help differentiate HP by demonstrating how HP's Edge AI and Advanced Compute capabilities can solve real customer problems and deliver measurable outcomes.

Required Qualifications

·   3 years of experience in technical presales, forward deployment engineering, solution engineering or architecture, AI infrastructure, advanced compute, or a related discipline; strong experience in one or more of these areas.

·   Experience designing and deploying AI, Edge AI, computer vision, advanced compute, or accelerated computing solutions.

·   Hands-on knowledge of modern AI infrastructure including GPUs, CPUs, NPUs, accelerators, containers, networking, storage, and hybrid-cloud technologies.

·   Experience taking technical solutions from POC or pilot into production environments.

·   Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, application, and integration challenges.

·   Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, scalability, manageability, and production operational requirements.

·   Ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures and technical capabilities into business outcomes.

·   Strong customer-facing presentation, communication, and technical storytelling skills.

·   Ability to collaborate across sales, engineering, product management, services, partners, and customer organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

·   Experience with AI inference and Edge AI frameworks.

·   Experience with NVIDIA and other accelerated-compute ecosystems.

·   Knowledge of computer vision, video analytics, generative AI, and AI inference workloads.

·   Experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux, APIs, and modern application architectures.

·   Experience working with ISVs and technology ecosystem partners.

·   Experience supporting enterprise customers across retail, manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, public sector, or other Edge AI-intensive industries.

·   Experience developing production reference architectures and repeatable solution patterns.

They understand the customer's business challenge, architect the right solution, prove it works, set measurable success criteria, remove deployment barriers, and stay technically engaged until the solution runs successfully in production.

Turn Edge AI possibilities into production outcomes.
