The Pricing Manager will help the firm develop and execute pricing and project management strategies that deliver cost-effective results to firm clients and support the firm’s financial goals. This role will assist attorneys in developing creative pricing arrangements, assist in the negotiation of client financial terms, develop project budgets, and will develop tools and processes to help the team discharge their collective responsibilities. The Manager of Pricing & Legal Project Management will also take a lead role in educating attorneys on pricing models, law firm economics, matter management, and communicating with clients. The role is both attorney-facing and client-facing.
The Manager of Pricing & Legal Project Management will collaborate with, and help develop as necessary, Pricing Analysts in connection with reporting, modeling, and financial analysis of prospective and existing matters. This includes assisting with developing and analyzing financial models, reports, forecasts, and budgets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the development of creative pricing solutions to meet client business objectives and support the firm’s financial goals including the use of alternative fee arrangements
  • Provide counseling, advice, and support to attorneys in developing pricing proposals, fee estimates and matter budgets, including leveraging templates and historical financial and matter data
  • Work with attorneys to develop proposals and renegotiate annual rate arrangements and other client financial terms
  • Work directly with clients on pricing-related issues, including helping to identify client business objectives, cost pressures, and pricing preferences
  • Partner with Business Development and attorneys to develop pricing strategies in connection with RFP submissions, lead the drafting of financial and pricing responses for such submission, and take point on running electronic auctions and competitive bidding processes
  • Set up matters for tracking and monitoring progress against budget with an emphasis on alternative fee arrangements
  • Follow-up with attorneys to address budget overruns, support budget revisions, address scope changes, and develop client and matter team communication strategies and approaches.
  • Assist in developing training materials related to matter pricing, budgeting, and legal project management
  • Develop processes, procedures and tools that strengthen the team’s ability to provide valuable insight and advice to attorneys and professional staff
  • Stay informed of current pricing trends within the legal market, and apply learned concepts to help improve the firm’s pricing and legal project management capabilities
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested by the Director of Pricing & Legal Project Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years pricing and related experience, preferably in a law firm.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with firm clients, attorneys, and firm professional staff at all levels
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft proposals and other internal and external communications
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis skills, including the ability to prepare valuable insight to assist in assessing the effectiveness and financial impact of pricing proposals and advising there on
  • Superior organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and ability to be flexible and adapt to change
  • High level of proficiency across Microsoft suite of products (Excel Word, PowerPoint, SQL, Power BI etc.) |
  • Working knowledge of legal industry financial and billing systems preferred
  • Ability to protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information

Pay Transparency Range:

Illinois full-time annualized salary: $141,000 - $190,000

New York full-time annualized salary: $167,250 - $195,000

Washington, D.C full-time annualized salary.: $150,000 - $190,000

The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
