Job Description:
Parsons is now hiring for a Principal Structural Designer/Drafter with experience in CAD drafting for highway and/or bridge projects to join our East Central Infrastructure team reporting remotely within the region.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Use CAD software to prepare detailed engineering drawings, including bridge plans, elevations, sections, and details, based on preliminary sketches or general engineering information, following established standards and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure coordinated and accurate designs.
- Apply standard drafting and design principles to complete assignments efficiently and effectively.
- Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
- Make necessary changes, additions, and revisions to drawings, following a structured quality control process that includes checking, backchecking, correcting, and verifying.
- Manage the assembly and delivery of completed drawing sets within the bridge discipline.
What Skills & Qualifications You'll Bring:
- Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent technical certificate from an accredited designer/drafter program.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in bridge structural drafting and design.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Bentley tools, including MicroStation, ProjectWise, and OpenBridge Modeler.
- Standards Knowledge: Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards such as AASHTO, state DOT CAD standards, and company policies and procedures, including the ability to set up workspace environments.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to established drafting conventions.
