Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

We're looking for a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who thrives at the intersection of architecture, automation, and operational excellence. You'll lead the design and evolution of our IT cloud infrastructure, partnering closely with other teams to build reliable, scalable ecosystems. This role serves as a senior technical authority responsible for establishing architecture, engineering standards, and long-term strategy across cloud platforms, identity and access management, SaaS technologies, automation, and emerging enterprise AI capabilities.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, working across Infrastructure, Security, Enterprise Applications, and Engineering teams, establishing architectural direction, evaluating emerging technologies, and translating business and security requirements into sustainable enterprise solutions.

What you'll do

As a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you can expect to:

  • Define and own the cloud infrastructure architecture and technical strategy across Azure, AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments, establishing secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective patterns across networking, compute, storage, identity, and core infrastructure services.
  • Set enterprise standards for reliability, resilience, and observability, including high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, capacity planning, monitoring, alerting, and incident management to ensure critical platforms remain resilient and operational at scale.
  • Architect secure cloud and identity solutions based on zero trust principles, partnering with Security and Compliance teams to establish identity governance, access controls, security guardrails, and architectural standards that reduce risk and meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Drive infrastructure automation and engineering excellence through Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, scripting, and configuration management, establishing reusable frameworks and standards that improve consistency, repeatability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership for cloud modernization and emerging technologies, including cloud migrations, platform consolidation, enterprise SaaS and AI platforms integrations, and new cloud capabilities. Evaluate technologies with a focus on business value, scalability, security, cost, and operational risk.
  • Serve as a principal technical authority across the infrastructure organization, leading architecture and design reviews, resolving complex cross-platform challenges, mentoring senior engineers, and influencing technical decisions and engineering practices that continuously improve reliability, security, automation, scalability, and cost efficiency.

What you bring:

Intapp is looking for intellectually curious, self-motivated professionals who like to get hands-on to contribute to the overall success of the business and their team. To apply for this Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role, you will ideally have:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or enterprise technology, with demonstrated success architecting and leading complex, enterprise-scale cloud solutions. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience and relevant industry certifications are equally valued.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, with strong knowledge of cloud networking, identity and access management (Microsoft Entra ID/Okta), enterprise SaaS platforms, SSO/SCIM integrations, and hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
  • Advanced experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code, using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep/ARM, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools, with a strong automation-first mindset and experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery, efficiency, and operational resilience.
  • Proven ability to architect secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud environments, applying cloud security, zero trust, governance, observability, disaster recovery, compliance, cost optimization, and operational excellence principles.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and architectural influence, with experience leading complex cloud initiatives, establishing engineering standards, conducting architecture and design reviews, evaluating emerging technologies, and driving technical decisions across teams.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges, mentor and elevate senior engineers, influence stakeholders, and translate business and security requirements into pragmatic, sustainable technology solutions.
