Principal, Continuous Improvement, DFSS

Job Description:

THE ROLE

Entegris is currently seeking a Design for Six Sigma Blackbelt, to join our MS Business Operations team. The location for this position can be in office or remote.

The Business Operations DFSS Black Belt serves as a consulting, coaching, and training resource for Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and advanced statistical methods across R&D, technology development, and manufacturing organizations. The role focuses on mentoring and coaching DFSS projects, supporting new product and process development, and building organizational capability in statistical thinking and prevention‑based quality.

The DFSS Black Belt applies established DFSS (PIDOV) and DMAIC methods to help teams design robust products and processes that achieve capability targets (Cpk/DPPM) and NPI robustness, while also improving First Pass Yield (FPY) and reducing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) prior to manufacturing release.

This role answers the question:  How do we design products and processes right the first time to consistently meet customer requirements with minimal variation and risk?

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Consult and coach DFSS (PIDOV) and DMAIC projects, with emphasis on Cpk/DPPM attainment and NPI robustness
  • Serve as a statistical subject‑matter expert supporting R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams
  • Coach teams on VOC → CTQ translation, QFD, CTQ flow‑down, and requirements definition
  • Mentor project teams on the application of:
  • System models (structure, context, functional block diagrams)
  • Transfer functions
  • DFSS scorecards and performance prediction
  • Deliver training on statistical tools and methods, including Six Sigma YB, GB, BB, and DFSS modules
  • Develop and adapt training materials related to DFSS, DOE, SPC, capability analysis, and advanced analytics
  • Interpret R&D and manufacturing data using statistical techniques including data cleaning, modeling, and multivariate analysis
  • Apply DOE (screening, characterization, optimization) to support design and process decisions
  • Support teams in assessing design and process readiness for phase/gate progression
  • Create technical reports, white papers, summaries, and conclusions for project teams and leadership
  • Identify trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities in complex data sets
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners (R&D, Engineering, Operations, Quality) to ensure appropriate application of DFSS methods
  • Work within an Entegris PACE values–driven culture

 WHAT WE SEEK

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in quality, engineering, R&D, manufacturing, or continuous improvement roles
  • Demonstrated experience consulting on or leading DFSS and Six Sigma projects
  • Strong working knowledge of DFSS, DMAIC, and statistical methods
  • Proficiency in:
  • Capability analysis and performance prediction
  • Data analysis from basic through advanced multivariate methods
  • Measurement system analysis and SPC
  • DOE and process characterization
  • Experience coaching and mentoring project teams on statistical and problem‑solving tools
  • Experience delivering training on Six Sigma and statistical methods
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex statistical and design concepts to non‑statistical audiences
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • Solid working knowledge of Minitab, JMP, or equivalent statistical software, and MS Office
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Your success will be measured by

  • Impact of supported DFSS projects on Cpk/DPPM performance and NPI robustness
  • Secondary improvements in FPY, COPQ, and lead time reduction
  • Effectiveness of DFSS consulting, coaching, and statistical mentoring
  • Quality and reach of training delivery and capability development
  • Growth of organizational DFSS and problem‑solving capability
  • Demonstration of PACE values: teamwork, accountability, creativity and innovation, and dedication to excellence
