As a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test Lead, you will develop automation for testing microservices in the cloud.

As a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with engineering teams to identify how to test proposed changes.
  • Developing and maintain automated test frameworks and test pipelines, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
  • Creating and maintaining test plans and test cases for our compute services, ensuring they cover all relevant scenarios and edge cases.
  • Writing and maintaining scripts to automate deployments, migrations and rollbacks.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting complex issues, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for solutions.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to juniors, promoting best practices and ensuring that quality standards are met.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
  • Have understanding of modern testing methodologies.
  • Have a deep expertise in Python, Pytest, and best practices for testing microservices.
  • Demonstrate experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, Github Actions, and SaltStack.
  • Possess good Linux fundamentals, especially around performance tuning
  • Be comfortable with Bash and scripting fundamentals and with containerization, such as Docker
  • Have good network fundamentals (HTTP, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $169,300 - $304,700/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
