Due to a promotion, Amerisure is recruiting for a Product Owner, Underwriting and Policy Systems to join our team!  This role will be hybrid, working 3 days a week in a local office and 2 from home. Office locations include Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, Farmington Hills MI, Indianapolis IN, Phoenix AZ, St. Louis MO or Tampa FL.

Position Summary:

Responsible for maximizing the product and business value through continuous backlog management. Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements to assist in identifying business priorities and advise on recommendations. 

Develop technical business specifications, support, administer and maintain systems used in the underwriting process.  Work with stakeholders to analyze, develop and document complex business processes, conduct needs assessment, develop and conduct required testing for successful systems implementation required for the achievement of business goals.  Be subject matter expert of the underwriting application, including assisting with development of training materials, as well as delivery of content to end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the interests of all relevant stakeholders and have decision making authority, in collaboration with the          Product Manager.

  • Create, prioritize, and manage user stories in the product backlog for the development team, and evaluate progress.  Responsible for the acceptance of completed backlog items.

  • Analyze and interpret various bureaus (ISO, AAIS, NCCI and independent bureaus) and/or company proprietary rules,        rates and forms to translate into technical specifications for IT for policy system implementation.

  • Develop, capture, and document business requirements and collaborate with stakeholders and IT department to ensure successful interpretation of business requirements to user stories.

  • Review and provide technical application support to users through the identification of business needs, system impacts       and alternative solutions including considerations for cost effectiveness and system and maintenance constraints.

  • Identify and recommend system and/or procedural improvements based on various bureau and/or company proprietary rates, rules and forms, operating systems and procedures that support underwriting efficiencies.

  • Collaborate with IT and underwriting to ensure data integrity, data flow, performance standards, testing and automating processes.

  • Assist and facilitate training and communication materials for end users on underwriting applications and processes.

  • Coordinate system releases, monitor underwriting applications, including identifying and investigating data integrity,      system and performance issues, determining appropriate action and coordinating, as needed, with other team members,        the IT department, and other stakeholders to determine the best resolution.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and draft proposals, as applicable, for evaluation by appropriate users and managers.  Present outcomes to stakeholders with recommended action steps including prioritization of work effort.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or equivalent work-related experience in insurance industry or application software-related business analyst.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with 2 years of underwriting experience with ISO, AAIS, NCCI and independent bureau products, and solid understanding of property and casualty rates, rules and forms, and various pricing programs.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Agile frameworks and approaches including Kanban, Scrum, SAFe and solid knowledge of agile software methodology.  Knowledge of SQL, XML and web application concepts also preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft applications stack.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principals and prior Learn Management Systems.

  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management.

  • Demonstrates successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 30%.
