At Mariner, we’re building the next generation of secure, AI-enabled business platforms—and we’re looking for an experienced Product Security & Business Enablement Lead to join us. In this role, you’ll be the key technical security partner to our business, product, data, and engineering teams, working at the intersection of innovation, technology, and risk management. You’ll help deliver new capabilities safely by embedding security early into product roadmaps and designs, ensuring security not only protects—but also empowers—the business.
Work side-by-side with product, engineering, architecture, and data leaders to shape secure solutions from the outset, reducing friction and enabling timely business outcomes.
Assess the security of Mariner’s composite business platforms—including SaaS applications, custom-built tools, API integrations, data flows, and AI features—by identifying trust boundaries, sensitive data, and key risks.
Facilitate architecture and threat reviews with delivery teams; help them make informed security decisions and document outcomes.
Build and maintain a library of practical, reusable secure-by-design patterns for SaaS, APIs, integrations, data movement, credentials, authorization, and AI-enabled workflows.
Translate complex security requirements into clear, actionable designs that don’t stall progress or rely on late-stage review.
Advocate for security in vendor evaluation and SaaS selection, assessing posture, identity, integrations, and data residency alongside our enterprise and procurement teams.
Collaborate with Security Platform Engineering to deliver self-service security capabilities, automated guardrails, and workflows that support the business at scale.
Partner with Identity & Access and Infrastructure to ensure robust authentication, authorization, and posture management across all user and agent touchpoints.
Support AI-enabled products and workflows, establishing security for data boundaries, tool access, prompt risks, and audit controls in line with enterprise AI governance.
Provide security expertise for enterprise data strategy, product onboarding, M&A activity, and technology adoption by defining practical patterns for secure data flows and integrations.
Be a visible, trusted advisor through regular office hours and embedded team engagement, mentoring teams so they can make sound, informed decisions without waiting on approvals.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience across security architecture, cloud/SaaS security, solutions architecture, engineering, or SRE/DevOps, with at least 4 years in a dedicated security role.
Deep experience designing or securing distributed systems comprised of SaaS, APIs, custom applications, data integrations, and third-party services.
Proven ability to analyze unfamiliar architectures quickly, identify security gaps, and guide practical solutions.
Strong partnership skills—able to work directly with business, engineering, data, and architecture leaders.
Evidence of adapting security requirements in light of business needs, with clear articulation of tradeoffs made.
Bonus Points For
Hands-on engineering or architecture background plus business-facing experience (e.g., solutions architect, technical product leader, or engineer who shifted focus to security).
Success changing perceptions of security from a business obstacle to an enabler.
Experience with SaaS- and integration-heavy environments or AI-enabled workflows.
Familiarity with data security concepts (classification, DLP, encryption, data lineage, governance, etc.).
Background in financial services, wealth management, regulated environments, or supporting M&A-driven technology integration.
Security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, CSSLP, cloud security) are valued but not required—demonstrated design and influence matter most.
Systems-thinking and technical depth across SaaS, APIs, cloud, integrations, data, and AI workflows.
Ability to connect business objectives to technical risk, controls, and pragmatic solutions—fast.
Strong communication, facilitation, and documentation skills; credible with both engineers and executives.
A practical, enablement-focused security mindset—comfortable prioritizing material risks and enabling the business instead of defaulting to red tape.
Adaptability and curiosity to navigate evolving technology landscapes with incomplete information.
This is a senior individual contributor role with broad technical influence and the chance to provide mentorship and technical leadership. As Mariner and the team grow, direct leadership opportunities may arise.
Join a fast-moving company where security is a business partner, not an obstacle. You’ll work on diverse platforms shaping the secure future of financial innovation—supported by collaborative, forward-thinking teams.
