Carlisle Construction Materials, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology, has an immediate opening at the Greenville, IL location for a Production Supervisor on a rotating Day/Evening shift.


Salary Range:  $80-$95k (dependent on experience/education)

Primary Function:

The primary function of the Production Supervisor is the timely production of a quality product, and the safety of the employees involved.  This person is responsible for execution of cost control, scheduling and manning to maximize efficiency and assist in maintaining a union-free environment in a participative management style.  The incumbent will champion continuous improvement objectives and help drive COS and the lean manufacturing process.  The Area Supervisor serves as a key interface with a variety of personnel, including but not limited to: Plant employees, temporary associates, Engineering, R & D, IT, Technical Services, HRD, Sales, Materials and Logistics, as well as Carlisle management.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct Supervision – Provide leadership for personnel on the shift in a manner that fosters their continued growth and development. Address personnel matters in a timely manner.  Ensure annual performance reviews are completed for all personnel.
  • Safety & Health – monitor the equipment, working conditions and methods utilized by shift personnel to ensure that plant safety standards are adhered to.
  • Quality – Evaluate the production of materials in the department to ensure that the methods and end results maintain the quality specifications established. Identify and correct non-conformance situations through troubleshooting and utilization of support personnel.
  • Quantity of Production/Material Scheduling – Utilizing a weekly schedule, ensure that production is accomplished in the most efficient manner possible. Ensure that priority products, scheduled for shipment, are completed on time.  Evaluate equipment and manpower needs to accomplish productivity requirements.  Provide direction to support personnel (i.e. Quality, Maintenance, etc.) to resolve problems that may interfere with obtainment of production goals.
  • Cost Control/Project Development – Assist Operations Manager in establishing and controlling budgets for the production areas. Initiate and assist in developing and implementing projects to ensure objectives of the plant are met.  Serve as an active participant in COS-related activities and help drive the continuous improvement process throughout the plant.
  • Participative Activities and Personal Development – become involved in plant-wide participative efforts (i.e. social and recreational committees, special event teams, etc.) to foster a cooperative family atmosphere. Engage in learning opportunities that will lead to personal and professional development.

Work Environment/Time Worked:

  • Work Environment: Activities occur inside an industrial facility that manufactures EPDM, TPO and PVC roofing materials, as well as adhesive products. 30% of the time is spent in an office environment, which is relatively clean and climate controlled.  70% of the time may be spent in production areas where there can be exposure to:
  1. Heat or cold
  2. Dust
  3. Chemicals
  4. Heavy equipment operation, including forklifts
  5. Pinch points and moving mechanical parts

The work can be fast-paced, and stressful at times.  Priorities change quickly, and the person must be able to adapt and prioritize appropriately.  The use of proper PPE is required, including: steel toed shoes, hearing protection, eye protection, and at times, respiratory protection.


Time Worked:  Two week rotating shift (Days 6:30a-3:00p; 2:30p-11p) with additional hours  as needed to support production requirements.  Additional pre and post shift time may be required for transition with other supervisors.  Special projects and events may require modified scheduling in order to attend meetings held on days when work other shifts.  Days worked are normally Monday through Friday, however Saturday work may be required during peak production times.  On rare occasions, Sunday work may be required when demand is heavy.


Education & Experience:

B.S. Degree in a business-related or technical field with 3+ years recent experience in a leadership position preferably in a manufacturing environment OR a high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in a recent leadership position.

Microsoft Office knowledge is required.  ShopFloor and SAP experience is preferred. The ability to communicate and interact with other functional groups within the Company is essential.  Internal candidates:  2+ years of leadership experience with Carlisle or equivalent of external candidate requirements.
