About the Opportunity

This is for an open position with FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The Distribution Tech (LTIIP) position provides LTIIP contract designer scorecard performance tracking support to the LTIIP Design leadership team for FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company (FE PA).

This position can be located at any service center in the Met-Ed service territory, and Penelec service centers within 1 hour distance from Met-Ed locations. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Establishing scorecards for LTIIP contract designers and tracking the achievement of agreed-upon LTIIP design expectations and deadlines with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Services (LTIIP Distribution Design) on the progress of internal and external stakeholders with achievement of agreed-upon LTIIP design expectations and deadlines. 
  • Supporting the LTIIP design process and assisting the PA LTIIP Design leadership team in efficiently executing the annual LTIIP design plan.
  • Supporting LTIIP design continuous improvement for FE PA.
  • Preparing budget Items (RPA - Request for Project Authorization, ECAT's- Energy Delivery Capital Allocation Tool) for LTIIP work as needed.
  • Demonstrating dedication to social responsibility through community involvement.
  • Supporting the FirstEnergy hazard and damage assessment storm processes, including performing the duties of Hazard Responder, Damage Assessor, Hazard Dispatcher, or Damage Assessment Dispatcher as needed.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline and 2 - 6 years’ related work experience are required.
  • OR high school diploma or equivalent and minimum 5 to 7 years’ related work experience are required.  Related work experience includes knowledge of planning/scheduling of work, construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.
  • Develops knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC), and Customer Guide for Electric Services (CGES).
  • Understands the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and Manual of Operations and its practical application in the workplace.
  • Self-motivated and able to balance competing priorities. 
  • Provides quality customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Possesses solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, GIS, CREWS, and database query tools.
  • Access to a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required and possesses a valid driver’s license.
