Summary:

As a part of Barnes & Thornburg Information Technology, a Project Manager will manage IT projects. The candidate should have experience in leading projects, managing tasks and timelines, working collaboratively across an organization, coordinating both internal and external resources to ensure timely project implementations, and executing functional adoption.

Responsibilities:

  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects with a focus on scope, schedule, quality and cost

  • Develop and execute project requirements, work plans, tasks, and reporting needed for IT leadership and other stakeholders across all phases of each project

  • Coordinate, prepare for and conduct project team meetings

  • Facilitate decisions to drive toward overall business objectives

  • Track issues and risks while ensuring resolution through probing questions; actively identify and support team in removing obstacles, waste and distractions that might impede project delivery

  • Report risks and deviations in scope, cost, schedule and quality as appropriate, seeking approval for mitigation plans

  • Participate in PMO process improvement initiatives and support PM onboarding for new staff

  • Embrace learning and apply lessons learned from each project to others

  • Manage Agile and Waterfall projects as defined in PMO process documentation

  • Generate or review project requirements

  • Work with external vendors as needed

  • Respond to ServiceNow incidents and reporting needs in a timely manner while working through immediate project tasks

  • Others duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 5+ years Project Management experience

  • PMP certification desired

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication

  • Familiarity with different project management approaches (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)

  • Detail orientation and attention to deadlines

  • Self-starting mentality and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously

  • Customer service aptitude and a team approach to meeting goals and objectives

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience using project management tools such as MS Planner and Project for the Web

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, etc.
