About the Role

As the Provider Operations & Strategy Associate, you’ll play a critical role in scaling Wheel’s clinician network by owning the day-to-day operations that enable clinicians to get credentialed, enrolled, and activated efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone early in their operations career who wants to work in telehealth, enjoys combining process-driven work with data, systems, and clinician communication, and is excited to make operational workflows smarter over time.

You’ll be deeply hands-on in credentialing and payer enrollment while also partnering cross-functionally to identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and ensure clinicians have a smooth, well-supported experience.

What You’ll Do

Credentialing & Enrollment Operations
  • Own the day-to-day tracking and progress of clinician credentialing and payer enrollment workflows, ensuring applications move forward accurately and on time.

  • Identify and resolve blockers across credentialing, enrollment, and re-credentialing processes.

  • Support clinicians directly by guiding them through credentialing and enrollment requirements and helping resolve missing or incomplete documentation.

  • Monitor re-attestation, re-credentialing, and ongoing compliance requirements to prevent downstream delays.

Data, Reporting, & Workflow Improvement
  • Analyze credentialing and enrollment data to surface trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare clear reporting for internal stakeholders, audits, and leadership

  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, or manual work and help implement improvements over time.

  • Use spreadsheets, dashboards, and internal tools to manage workflows and track performance.

Cross-Functional Tasks

  • Provide subject matter expertise to Wheel team members and/or clinicians about Wheel’s credentialing and payer enrollment operations, for example answering questions about the process, payer rosters, and credentialing status of clinicians.

  • Review clinician licensure and, in collaboration with the Marketplace team, identify strategies to increase clinician capacity and earnings.

  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Manager to support Wheel’s Provider Operations.

  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with clinicians and internal partners.

Who You Are

  • You have 3+ years of professional experience, ideally in operations, healthcare/ telehealth or a fast-paced startup environment.

  • You have 1+ years of experience in credentialing and/or payer enrollment, including hands-on experience with the CAQH Provider Data Portal and Verifiable or Medallion.

  • You have 1+ experience with data analysis and visualization- you are comfortable working in spreadsheets, interpreting metrics, and using data to manage workflows and spot issues.

  • You’re highly organized but also thoughtful about how work gets done, not just checking boxes.

  • You communicate clearly and confidently with clinicians and internal partners.

  • You’re comfortable in detail-oriented work and curious about how to improve processes over time.

  • You are curious about AI and eager to use AI to create efficiencies and high quality experiences.

Additional Nice to Haves

  • You are certified by NAMSS as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), Certified Provider Enrollment Specialist (CPES), and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).

  • You have experience with implementing automation/AI to increase operational efficiency.

Salary and Perks

Pay Range: $60,000 - 85,000 base compensation.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.

Wheel is unable to consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. The role will remain open until May 31, 2026. Any eligible candidate that meets the essential criteria of the role may apply via the job posting or through Wheel’s career page up until the designated application deadline.
