Job Summary & Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with hands-on experience in metal manufacturing and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). This role is critical in ensuring that products such as manifolds, spindles, jacks, hubs, and other precision metal components meet internal and customer quality standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, preparing PPAP documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections on metal components using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM).
  • Prepare and submit complete PPAP packages (Levels 1–5) in accordance with customer and industry requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure product compliance.
  • Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined and fabricated metal parts.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation including control plans, FMEAs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer audits).
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics and trends.

Education and Training:

  • Engineering degree required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a quality role within a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PPAP documentation and submission processes.
  • Familiarity with machining processes, metal fabrication, and mechanical components.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with quality tools such as Control Plans, FMEA, Gage R&R, and SPC.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and surface finish requirements.
  • Familiarity with ERP and QMS software systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting for an extended period of time.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Office setting.

Pay & Benefits

Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, qualifications, and other job-related criteria. This pay range is provided to ensure transparency and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
