Gateway Special Recreation Association is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Part-Time Recreation Aid to support individuals with and without disabilities in a variety of recreational programs, special events, and fitness activities. This role is key to creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment for participants of all ages and abilities.

The Recreation Aid will assist Program Coordinators in delivering engaging experiences that reflect the values of dedication, respect, support, and fun.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to children and adults during recreational and sports programs
  • Encourage active participation and inclusion for all program participants
  • Assist with setup, facilitation, and cleanup of activities and events
  • Follow instructions and guidance from Program Coordinators and team leads
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming environment
  • Monitor participant behavior and communicate any concerns to supervisors
  • Work a flexible schedule, which may include split shifts, weekday mornings/evenings, and Saturdays
  • Promote and uphold the Mission and Values of Gateway SRA and the Ray Graham Association

Requirements

  

  • Preferably 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a recreational, community agency, school, or employment setting
  • Minimum age of 17 years old
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Illinois driver's license for staff aged 21 years or older
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass a CHIRP and CANTS background check
  • Capable of lifting and transferring individuals up to 75 lbs
Schedule

Part-time position with up to 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
