The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Company's revenue accounting by providing accounting expertise, and a strong desire to improve processes and controls.
The position reports to the Revenue Accounting Senior Manager and is accountable for supporting all accounting policy responsibilities, including documentation and oversight of the application of UL's revenue accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP.
This position involves a partnership with all of ULS's business operations and an understanding of:• UL's diverse types of revenue,• the contracts that govern our services,• our operational processes for orders, the fulfillment of work, and our invoicing processes.
The position has interactions and dependencies with corporate accounting, business leads, legal team, and management.
This is a full-time, hybrid (3 days in office) position located at Northbrook, IL.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be global revenue accounting lead, including partnering with our business teams and being an agent of change to continuously improve the integrity of our operational processes.
- Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and followed.
- Ensure revenue recognition policies and procedures for UL's income statement and balance sheet accounts are in conformance with ASC 606, U.S. GAAP, other pertinent authoritative literature, and the Company's established policies. Including deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, accounts receivable, and allowance for doubtful accounts and how these items are described in the financial statements and footnotes of our financials.
- Maintaining governance over the Order-to-Revenue processes.
- Manage the monthly and quarterly revenue close process, including assurance of accurate and timely results.
- Review customer contracts for revenue recognition implications and work with Sales teams, support standardization of contracts, and the business on understanding implications of and structuring of non-standard contracts.
- Responsible for complying with Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 requirement as related to revenue recognition and ownership of the narrative and key controls
- Provide revenue recognition guidance and training to cross-functional organizations, including sales, legal, accounting/finance.
- Work with external auditors helping them through the annual audit and quarterly reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- At least 5 years directly related experience, including:
- Minimum of 3 years public accounting experience (preferably with Big 4 accounting firm)
- Active US CPA required
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience in software and professional services industries is a plus
- Self-motivated individual that can adapt to changing environments
Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000- $130,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 2% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday and personal days (totaling 12 days), and sick time off (72 hours).
