ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Associate Risk Analyst  will support Senior Risk Analysts with active monitoring of complex client portfolios (including margin and options), credit analysis, reporting, and risk platform initiatives. Works cross-functionally with Risk, Operations, Stock Loan, and Treasury to deliver timely, policy-compliant credit decisions and client support. 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Run daily exposure, margin, and concentration checks across asset classes; flag exceptions to senior analysts. 
  • Prepare pre-trade and post-trade risk snapshots for leveraged and options strategies. 
  • Gather financials, market data, and counterparty information for credit memos and due diligence files. 
  • Draft sections of credit write-ups (business overview, financial trends, covenant/limit tracking) for review. 
  • Assist with updates to internal risk ratings and credit limits under supervision. 
  • Produce and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports; ensure data accuracy and timeliness. 
  • Build/maintain dashboards (e.g., exposures, VaR summaries, margin calls, limit utilizations).   
  • Triage and respond to client queries related to margin financing, documentation status, and risk metrics; escalate complex issues. 
  • Coordinate with Operations/Stock Loan/Treasury on collateral, settlements, and stock borrow availability. 
  • Contribute to development and UAT of risk tools and reports; document SOPs and change logs.
  • Support operational risk tasks (issue logging, control checks, reconciliations) as needed. 
  • Compute and sanity-check basic metrics (e.g., option Greeks awareness—gamma vs. price moves; simple VaR estimations using approved methods). 
  • Perform data pulls via SQL/Access and advanced Excel for ad hoc analysis. 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience required

  • 0-2 years of experience in risk analysis, preferably within the financial services industry or at a correspondent clearing/broker-dealer firm

  • FINRA Series 7 License required (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)

Required Skills/Abilities

  •  Strong Excel/Sheets (lookups, pivots, basic modeling); comfort with Access and SQL for queries. 

  • Clear written and verbal communication; organized, detail-oriented; able to follow SOPs and meet deadlines. 

  • Basic understanding of options (including gamma’s relationship to price movements) and margin mechanics. 

  • Familiarity with Value at Risk concepts and how VaR is computed at a high level. 

  • Exposure to R or Python for data manipulation and simple analytics. 

  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or tools for data quality, anomaly detection, or workflow automation. 

  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) and ticketing/project tools (Jira/Asana). 

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.

Salary Range

$55,200-$69,000

The annual base salary range for this position is noted above. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and office location.
