Overall Purpose

The Sales Solutions Engineer Manager provides technical and functional support for sales channel engagements. This role blends technical expertise with sales skills to deliver innovative payment solutions by leveraging knowledge of payment technologies, regulatory requirements, and integration best practices. The Sales Solutions Engineer Manager facilitates the technical conduit between the Sales team and clients.

Essential Functions

  • Builds strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, issuers, payment networks, processors, merchants, acquirers, and technology vendors.

  • Partners with sales teams to identify opportunities and provide technical expertise to win business in the U.S. payments market.

  • Leverages a deep understanding of U.S. payment systems, including card networks, real-time payments, mobile and digital wallets, ecommerce platforms, payment gateways, orchestration layers, tokenization systems, issuer processors, and payment service providers to design tailored client solutions and articulate target-state architectures.

  • Leads technical discovery and solution design for enabling issuers and their card portfolios in digital wallets, including product and BIN eligibility, account/card verification, identity and verification (ID&V), wallet terms and disclosures, provisioning decisions, activation, transaction enablement, and operational support.

  • Explains network-tokenization and provisioning flows, wallet enrollment, in-app and push provisioning, web or app-to-app journeys, Token Service Provider and Token Requestor interactions, device binding, token assurance, cryptographic controls, and issuer or processor API integration.

  • Defines end-to-end token lifecycle behavior from token request, eligibility and activation through suspend, resume, delete, replenish, replace, PAN update, account reissue, device change, fraud response, and termination; aligns lifecycle events across issuer systems, card networks, token services, wallets, and customer-service operations.

  • Applies working knowledge of EMV and contactless or NFC standards to explain transaction flows, application selection, cardholder verification, terminal risk management, dynamic cryptograms, authorization data, and the roles of the card, device, contactless kernel, terminal, acquirer, network, and issuer.

  • Advises clients on NFC tap-to-pay acceptance, NFC and contactless payment standards, terminal capabilities and configuration.

  • Evaluates how contactless terminals detect and communicate with cards or wallet devices, select supported payment applications, exchange EMV data, apply CVM and transaction limits, generate and route authorization messages, and support certification, troubleshooting, and operational monitoring.

  • Develops and presents payment solutions that align with client needs and integrate seamlessly with ecommerce platforms and the Paze digital wallet.

  • Conducts technical presentations, workshops, architecture reviews, and demonstrations to educate clients on payment workflows, issuer and wallet integration, tokenization, contactless acceptance, compliance requirements, certification dependencies, and system capabilities.

  • Creates comprehensive solution documentation, sequence flows, technical guides, integration requirements, and proposals tailored to client use cases.

  • Defines, monitors, and reviews sales solutions engineering objectives to ensure alignment with business goals and operational success.

  • Works with leadership to develop action plans that support the rapid growth of the Paze organization and acts as a communications channel between market trends, client feedback, and the Product team.

  • Complies with all security policies and procedures to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Typically, a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in payments or fintech solutions engineering, sales engineering, technical consulting, or solution architecture.

  • Proven experience supporting issuers, processors, payment networks, token services, or digital-wallet integrations, including participation in a wallet-enablement, card-digitization, tokenization, or provisioning program.

  • Strong knowledge of payment tokenization, issuer-to-wallet provisioning, identity and verification (ID&V), token assurance, and token lifecycle management, including activation, suspension, reissue, device or card changes, and fraud scenarios.

  • Working knowledge of EMV standards, NFC and contactless payment standards, cardholder verification, dynamic cryptograms, authorization flows, terminal certification, and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency with APIs, SDKs, cloud platforms, ecommerce integrations, and scalable payment-solution architecture.

  • Understanding of U.S. payments regulation and security requirements, including PCI DSS, data protection, AML, KYC, and sanctions compliance.

  • Strong customer-facing, sales, leadership, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex payment technology for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

  • Travel up to 25%.

  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with EMV Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 testing or certification, contactless terminal kernels, terminal-management systems, and acquirer or processor certification processes.

  • Experience with Tap to Pay on Phone, SoftPOS, mobile point-of-sale, contactless acceptance, or terminal-estate deployment and troubleshooting.

  • Certifications in payments, fintech, EMV, security, or PCI (for example, Certified Payments Professional or PCI Professional).

  • Experience with real-time payments or emerging technologies in the U.S. payments space and familiarity with ecommerce fraud-prevention and risk-management tools.

For Paze

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. payment networks, digital wallets (for example, Apple Pay and Google Pay), issuer processing, payment gateway technologies, network and merchant tokenization, card-on-file credential management, and wallet or ecommerce authentication flows.

  • Ability to connect issuer enablement and token lifecycle requirements to Paze product capabilities, acceptance growth, client implementation plans, operational readiness, and measurable sales outcomes.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment, including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers. Employees must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

The base pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $117,000-$143,000.
New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $125,000 - $156,000.
