Business Development Associate

The purpose of this role is to grow Home Chef’s customer base both through existing and new accounts.
We’re looking for a candidate with a unique skill set – an independent go-getter who is motivated to own the account management process from start to finish. This includes running analysis on existing customer accounts to identify opportunities for growth, as well as cultivating new partnerships. The ideal candidate is an experienced sales professional with a proven track record of success.
As a business development associate, you will proactively work cross-functionally within and outside the organization. This will span everything from insights and analytics, packaging, product, tech and design to culinary and operations as well as key stakeholders within outside accounts.
Individuals who are motivated, hungry to learn, data-driven and eager to get a valuable hands-on experience will be rewarded with opportunities to grow within this role.
This role is based in Chicago, IL, with limited travel. This role is a member of the Marketing team, reporting to the Director of Business Development.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage relationships with existing accounts by understanding their needs and developing a plan to exceed these needs to generate sales for Home Chef
- Identify and develop opportunities for growth through data-driven analysis, leveraging consumer insights and operational capabilities
- Comfortable closing new accounts through in-person meetings with customers
- Work cross-functionally with other departments (i.e. Operations, Procurement, Culinary, Product, Tech, etc.)
- Independently work on special projects and day-to-day assignments
- Manage multiple stakeholders on projects to drive measurable impact
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a rigorous fast-paced work environment – CPG, manufacturing, data analytics consulting, finance, etc.
- Previous sales and account management experience preferred
- Professional communication skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize work
- Exceptional Excel and Google Sheets analytics with an innate feel for numbers
- Independent self-starter, driven to find solutions without significant oversight
- Intellectually curious, with a strong interest in the food, e-commerce and start-up space
- Results driven active problem solver with a natural desire to get things done
- Strong communicator and relationship builder
- Bachelor’s Degree. MBA or advanced degree is a plus
