About the Role
We’re seeking our first Sales Development Representative. Your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to manage and optimize our entire lead generation and qualification process.
If there’s one thing to take away from this posting, it’s the following: this is not a normal SDR position. You won’t be handed a list of leads and told to “hunt”. Instead, you will be expected to bring innovation and rigor to the art of lead generation and qualification.
You’ll need to understand our product inside and out, demonstrate its value in different ways depending on your audience, and help create recurring business for years to come.
As our first SDR, your primary responsibility will be to generate qualified opportunities. While our existing traction and brand reputation will set you up for success, this job will require a great deal of creativity, persistence, and entrepreneurship. If you do well, you will play a critical role in the company’s growth trajectory.
What you’ll do:
Maintain and refine a prioritized list of target accounts
Execute *warm* outreach (emails, calls) to the schools that use our free version
Measure and optimize the effectiveness of our outreach and sales funnel
Report on the pipeline to the CEO to inform accurate forecasting
Work closely and maintain effective communication with other departments, including Product and Marketing

Are charismatic, both in writing and in conversation (you make a GREAT first impression!)
Are excited to get in on the ground floor of a small, rapidly-growing, fast-paced startup
Love the challenges, hours, and ups-and-downs of startup life
Aren’t afraid of big spreadsheets and number crunching
Jump at opportunities break convention and do things differently
Have 1-3 years of lead-gen experience (SaaS or K-12 a huge plus)
