Job Description

We are looking for a self-starter Sales Solutions Engineer to facilitate a connection between customers, sales, and product management, in order to ensure accurate, quick deployments of our solutions. The goal is to improve equipment distribution, customer satisfaction, and maximize customer retention. The Systems Sales Engineer will work very closely with Customer Success and Sales Management to help customers understand the value of our products and solutions.

The Sales Solution Engineer will manage presales opportunities and implementation of the identified complex projects. This comprises all stages of the projects, starting from scope definition until the final close of the project. The incumbent is responsible for the management of all aspects of the technical solution, customer requirements, and expectations within the projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Estimating projects along with engineering of security systems that include Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR), in both mobile and fixed environments across the Central United States.
  • Active involvement with any jobs assigned to them by the Customer Success Team and Sales Management Team.
  • Planning specifications, scopes of work, and additional documentation to ensure the accuracy of quotes
  • Attend and present at customer meeting that involves a more technical aspect
  • Performs Site walks (remote or onsite) to confirm solution requirements and assess the installation environment
  • Accurately describe the scope of work in terms the customer and partners understand
  • Work with installation teams on any discrepancies of the scope and/or estimate to ensure a successful project.
  • Navigate network environments that may affect the communication of our equipment (firewalls, VPN, security programs, electricity requirements, etc.)
  • Coordinate site surveys, third-party contractor installations, training and service calls with customers and post-sale support teams.
  • Basic troubleshooting of system failures that may be a result of hardware failure, network, or software configuration issues.
  • Cooperate with technical teams and share information across the organization.
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings.

Specific Knowledge / Skills:

  • 4+ years of Sales Engineering, Electronics Technician, System Technologist, System Manager, or Field Service experience.
  • Windows administrator, windows networking, TCP/IP, WiFi/Router configuration, IP device configuration, strong hardware, and software troubleshooting skills. 
  • Installation project management, coordinating with internal-external resources to see customer installation from conception to completion. 
  • Understanding of LPR Systems, IP based video surveillance systems, computer software, and hardware is ideal.
  • Able to train/demonstrate hardware and software product capabilities in a classroom-style setting.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo
  • Attention to detail and a flawless execution mindset
  • Exercises judgment in the selection of methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Solicits customer feedback to improve service
  • Travel throughout Central US
  • City Government and Law Enforcement environment a plus.

  • 4+ years of Sales Engineering, Electronics Technician, System Technologist, System Manager, or Field Service experience.
  • This position is subject to working in high-security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
