Senior Accountant
With the advent of genomic sequencing, we can finally decode and process our genetic makeup. We now have more data than ever before but providers don't have the infrastructure or expertise to make sense of said data. Here at Tempus, we believe the greatest promise for the detection and treatment of cancer lies in the deep understanding of molecular activity for disease initiation, progression, and efficacious treatment based on the discovery of unique biomarkers.
Tempus is looking for a hardworking, ambitious Senior Accountant to support its growing operations in Chicago. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will oversee the accounts payable, inventory process, and assist with month end close duties.
What you'll do:
Accounts Payable
- Review and verify invoices and check requests
- Sort, code and match invoices
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
- Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
Inventory
- New items set-up in financial system
- Match PO and freight invoice to receiving, fully loading landed costs
- Coordinate with Lab operations to enter & maintain PO and receipts
- Ensure product costs are accurate
- Post daily receipt file and reconcile errors / variances
- Post daily / weekly inventory transaction file and reconcile errors
- Analyze and prepare inventory and COGS entries in financial system
- Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger
- Develop inventory analysis reports and analyzing variances
- Be point of contact for labs to assist with financial operational issues
- Recognize and implement process improvements across inventory functions
Other
- Assist with month end closing
- Assist in account reconciliations – including bank recs
- Provide supporting documentation for audits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3+ years of experience in Accounts Payable
- Inventory accounting preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with Quickbooks, Intacct or Netsuite
- Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a rapidly-growing company
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented
