Position Overview:
Our Corporate Affairs team will liaise closely with the community, media and state government ensuring our commitment to responsible gaming and the State of Illinois is seen in all aspects of our daily activities. The Senior Director of Corporate Affairs will manage our external communications, lobbying efforts and relationships with our stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing the reputation of Camelot Illinois through advocacy and controls the dissemination of information on behalf of Camelot Illinois.
Responsibilities:
Communications Strategy, Vision and Leadership:
- Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance our brand identity; broaden awareness of Camelot Illinois programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences and the media.
- Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with leadership team and staff to recognize external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
- Help to build a longer-term Corporate Affairs function including Government Relations and Public Relations and Social Media capability.
- Leads crisis communications and response efforts.
- Supports the creation of community engagement and social responsibility programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects.
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of the corporate affairs function including budgeting, planning and staff development.
- Ensure that the business is aware of and compliant with its SR related legislative obligations.
- Support senior leadership to coordinate the development of the Community Outreach Plan and the annual strategic focus.
- Support the Social Responsibility Manager in creating a cohesive strategy as it pertains to Responsible Gaming, Player Protection and Social Responsibility.
- Represent Camelot Illinois at stakeholder meetings, conferences, events, etc.
- Serve as on-the-record spokesperson for Camelot Illinois when appropriate.
Team Development & Management:
- Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals.
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field is required.
- A minimum of 10 years experience and a demonstrated track record of success.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic communications, media relations and public affairs program.
- Experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications programs to advance the Camelot Illinois vision, mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, staff and external stakeholder.
- Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications specialists.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
